(On the sides of the road the piles were up to four metres and I could hardly recognise where I was driving.)

That has happened here only once in my lifetime. I was probably 5 years old at the time.

I have a sudden urge to take a trip to Lapland. Maybe during the summer. I could probably get great photos from there.
I might visit the coast of the arctic sea too. I have been there once and the views were great. cool
Too bad i had a crappy camera at the time. sad

Yes, in childhood the piles were frequently so high that I couldn't see past them. How odd. Even the fences were like that. smile

Well i remember sitting in a car, so my height wouldn't matter that much.

Multiple waterspouts were observed off the southern coast of Norway yesterday, up to four simultaneously. The timelapse in the article is interesting. While a few waterspouts usually appear every summer off the coast here, a group of four at the same time is something pretty special.

My weather station in Oslo recorded 30.0 C today, which is the first time it has hit the 30 number since I began recording more than 10 years ago.

I'm in Gothenburg now, though. Probably even warmer here. It's not pleasant in a part of the world where aircondition is a rare thing but it's not allowed to complain.

Salvo, same here on the Balkans. Some cyclone is passing by and we have been having horrible weather nonstop. There's actually even been hail several times...

I supercell passed over southerwest Sweden and southeast Norway a couple of days ago leaving some mild damage and tennis ball sized hail. This is quite rare in Scandinavia. http://www.nrk.no/ho/_-har-ikke-sett-maken-til-uvaer-1.11863562

I live near where the worst of the blizzard is happening, they are predicting ~60 cm of snow for where I live and many places will receive hurricane-force winds and places on the coast will be flooded at high tide. But this is not an unprecedented storm, something like this usually happens here once every 10 years or so.

Looks like it was more an unusual weather forecast than it was unusual weather. Forecast said about 60 cm for NY, possibly more, and they shut down a lot. Actual amounts were 10-15 cm.
