Now that Juno is almost to Jupiter, I figured this could be a thread where people could discuss the mission. Speculate about what Juno will find and soon enough, it will be proved or debunked.
For starters, I think Jupiter has a solid core. What do you all think?

I saw that!
It's amazing to think about...there is a probe heading to Jupiter of this scale!

I think Jupiter has a solid core also, must be larger than earth.

must be larger than earth.

The question is, at what point to we consider it a solid since there wouldn't be a sudden border between liquid Jupiter and solid Jupiter.

When you throw something at it and it bounces off.

1. What will we throw?
2. In the case of Jupiter, the projectile would eventually slow down to a halt (like a bullet through jello)

100000 miles per hour

Well a ball that speed can already tear through solid material

What is Jupiter's core made of? Solid iron like Earth?

Juno itself is the instrument. smile Jupiter's dragging of the space-time around it should cause a slight shift in Juno's orbit over time.

Maybe! It's hard to tell because we have no data yet. A solid hydrogen-helium alloy would be cool! cool
