Wow! I never see photos with martian limb and atmosphere from that close-in! I should've seen them before, when I adjusted martian atmosphere model in SE... And Phobos in front of Mars is impressive! I wounder why such photos were never captured before, or I've just missed them?

The USSR was never as prolific with releasing images to the public as the USA and Europe were (those were from the фобос-2 mission). Here is a collection of some good processed images from that mission: http://www.strykfoto.org/phobos2.htm

Amazing... Bruneton's atmosphere model can't be used for Mars...
The last one I've seen, but I thought that was an art work...

I'm not sure about it, you're probably right though, it probably is a rendering of some kind, but it certainly looks like it stays true to real data. In any case, I like it smile

Agreed. I was never satisfied with the current Mars model. I was going to attempt to tweak it to make it look a little better, but recently SE doesn't like me messing with atmo models...

EDIT: Is that last sunrise gif animating for anyone else? Because it stopped animating for me and I can't seem to fix it

Deimos is very much smaller and farther from Mars, and also just less interesting in almost every way. Therefore, fewer pictures are taken of it. But it is featured in a few of the images I've posted thus far.
