I can make M82, but it would not look like this. Your image is an infrared image.

Wow, the starbursts are so strong.

The model will be very hard to implement, but I'll give it a try.

Horse Nebula Added.

Moderators, can you move post #9 just after the OP ? This will make all the add-ons at the same place.

The galaxy is seen from the side, so it is impossible to know how it looks like from the top.
Maybe it looks like M104 or M64.

No, this is not possible. You may want to put a note in the OP about looking at that post. The only other alternative is for you to create a new thread, copying the OP over to that one, and reserve the first several posts so you can have more room, and then merge this one with the new one.

Alternatively, I may remove all posts between 1 and 9, if their authors do not mind.

Great work on Horsehead nebula Voekoevaka! But here are few remarks:

1) The Flame nebula must be located near the Alnitak, because this star is lit the nebula. The Flame and the Horesehead nebulas are part of the Orion complex, so they must be located near the Orion nebula.

2) The Horsehead background emission nebula and the Flame nebula must be darker, because they does not visible with naked eye (well, I never seen them even in a telescope). SE have an option to increase galaxy/nebula brightness.

3) Many of your textures have a gray border. I guess you used Photoshop - take in mind that it likes to create such a borders when you reduce texture resolution using resampling filters.

Voekoevaka, your distances for the Horsehead and Flame nebulae are way off. They should be placed at about 460 parsecs. With your current distance they would be closer than Alnitak, which is clearly impossible.

Also, the sizes and positions probably need to be redone because of this.

And I was totally ninja'd by SpaceEngineer happy
