I think I know why those Na'vi look sooo tall...
If you look at Pandora's gravity it's lower then that of Earth, so I guess that's not the cause
But if you look at Polyphemus's gravity like 5.8g makes aaalooot of sense why those Na'vi are sooo tall...
They must be otherwise they would be crushed by the strong gravitational pull of Polyphemus.
I actually like it's diameter at 116.000 km, lol 58.000 km looks too ice giantish...
Oh well just my thoughts about the Na'vi environment...

They're not living on Polyphemos, though, so I don't really see what its gravity has to do with their length. The lower gravity on Pandora does show why they're so tall, though.

Could be but remember Pandora is like between 300 and 350.000 km away from Polyphemus, atleast a human would feel it's gravitational pull and that's why they adapt themselves to be Na'vi, ofcourse for the toxic atmosphere on Pandora aswell as the gravitational pull. Maybe the Na'vi bones are just hollow from the inside. And whuttabout the dinosaurs? I mean I guess Earth's gravitational pull hasn't changed in all those billions of years and they where tall aswell... Oh well you have a point though

No, because they are in orbit of Polyphemus. Astronauts in Earth's orbit do not feel Earth's gravity, because they are in free-fall. You would only feel the gravity if you were somehow holding stationary above the planet, with 0 orbital velocity.

Pandora with everything on it is in freefall, so aside from tidal effects, no-one is going to feel any pull of Polyphemus' gravity any more than we on Earth feel the Sun's gravity.

As for the dinosaurs, many of them were quite small. But at any rate, none of them have a build similar to a human, so they're not really comparable. A human or something like it couldn't be ten metres tall in Earth's gravity.

Okay I got owned. Thanks for the info biggrin
I guess I was confused about gravitational pullings between Polyphemus and Pandora I thought any lifeforms we're affected aswell, but I got it now.

XMINEIROCREEPEIROGENERALX, threads about Pandora already existed, use the search.

And no, Pandora is not real, it is a fictional planet from a fictional movie.

I thought it was entirely James Camerons creation and not based off of a book.

Actually, it is based on a LOT of books and a few of them have a very similar story.

It was a fictional movie? Woah, they sure had me fooled, I thought I'd seen it in real life! tongue

And yeah, the story is based on like a thousand other stories (most of them not set in space but on Earth, though).
