| Something like FlightGear My suggestion is to add some "cameras" to spaceships, and, while you driving the spaceship, you can look around and watch the stars, that would be amazing and better than "third person" view

| Decided to try to sketch out how habitat module for ships from the editor could look. In SpaceEngine this will be not soon, so I've made a demo with Unity. You can download it here (19 MB). Controls: WASD + mouse - walk Shift - run Space - jump 0 - toggle gravity mode to a centrifuge (default) - - turn on the brake = - turn on the acceleration Alt+F4 - exit
A short video:

| Quote SHW ( ) Decided to try to sketch out how habitat module for ships from the editor could look. Wow Great work as always SHW! (I even tried to go into a shuttle before I remembered it was just a hab demo ). I always look forward to seeing the things you make.
I did find one issue though... it's possible to walk out and airlock and into space, which of course forces a restart It's also possible to change the centrifuge and fall through a window and explore the outside, which is really cool!
Ooh, and you can also climb the ladder out the airlock and walk on top. Very nice.

| Quote HarbingerDawn ( ) Ooh, and you can also climb the ladder out the airlock and walk on top. Very nice. Also, it is possible to switch to centrifuge mode again and walk to shuttles top. Spacecraft itself is not interactive, so it will not collide with you. Probably, I'll add magnetic boots to walk on spacecraft and integration with editor with ability to compose your own interior from existing modules in future.

| Very nice! The only thing I don't like is the restaurant, too much black&yellow textures, but the other things are cool!

| Quote Salvo ( ) too much black&yellow textures It is a static part, it can cut you during changing gravity direction, so they marked as dangerous. Probably, they could be covered with panels on rotating part. Quote Salvo ( ) Are you still working in your game? This demo is related to SE only.

| Wouldn't it be more economical to spin the whole ship instead of just the habitat? You wouldn't have to use all that energy to constantly spin the habitat. If you spun the whole ship, it would just keep spinning on its own, because there's no friction in space to slow it down.
EDIT: Dangit! This was supposed to be in the Spaceship Interior thread. I'm sorry! Can someone give me a lift?
Careful. The PLATT Collective has spurs.

Quote Joey_Penguin ( ) You wouldn't have to use all that energy to constantly spin the habitat. If you spun the whole ship, it would just keep spinning on its own, because there's no friction in space to slow it down. Imagine what amount of energy is required to start spin entire ship and stop. And anyway habitat should be able to change its configuration if gravity direction changed (I mean ship acceleration and deceleration phase).
