As the title says. It were nice if anybody on board would set-up a [/i]step by step[i] guide how to implement new high-res textures and bump files. Im personally no programer or either a expert at all this stuff. So, a guide for us dummies were really great.

Yes please the same. Looking for some good tutorials also for creating a galaxie.
All of these are quite good tutorials but I totally agree with all of you in the sense that they are not quite simple for people that want to collaborate but can't because of the lack of basic knowledge on many issues. Me, for example; I don't know how to use the CubeMap tool, or even what pourpose serves the Optimizer Tool. I understand english but there are too many technicalities that refer to things that even with a dictionary I can't put into context. And there are many aspects of programming that I don't understand at all. Even theoretical questions as: if I do a rectangular map wouldn't that need for more pixels in the polar regions than in the equatorial to make all the planet the same resolution? or what does each parameter exactly means? These tutorials are clearly not as clear as many may think for many of us; prove of that is the fact that even with the capability of creating planet textures only a few in this community really have done that (I'm sure many collaborations would arouse if there was a more extensive explanation for each thing and if we all could understand how things work).
I upvote the idea of making these tutorials more explanatory (they are quite explanatory but we need much more). I don't mind if someone explains to me these things as if this where Sesame Street, bacause we need to ensure at least that for all of the people, from so many different places. By the way for many of us, the gap of knowledge is so big that one can't even make precise questions some times.

Good question, actually. From my experiences with textures in Universe Sandbox, rectangular textures tend to have "longer" pixels near the poles, since there is less actual surface area closer to the poles, but it has to have the same actual number of pixels, so normally the pixels are "stretched out" so that you have the same resolution all over the sphere.
