Terraformed Solar System

While making my addon that turns the terrestrial planets into moons of Jupiter, I found a quite simple way to terraform any world, as long as it has a bumpmap. So the obvious next step was to do precisely that to all worlds with a bumpmap in SE. These are Mars, Venus, the Moon, and Jupiter's Galilean moons. (And Titan, but it's kind of a special case so I didn't terraform it) Since I know some people will likely want Mars terraformed but not the Galilean moons, I made several different .sc files. You should download only one of them, place it in SpaceEngine/data/catalogs/planets, add the line "data/catalogs/planets/SolarSys - [whichever you downloaded].sc" to universe.cfg, and comment the line "data/catalogs/planets/SolarSys.sc" out. So here are the downloads:

Full download (includes Mars, Venus, the Moon, Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto)
Terraformed Mars only
Terraformed Venus only
Terraformed Moon only
Terraformed terrestrial worlds (includes Mars, Venus, and the Moon, but not the Galilean moons)
Terraformed Galilean moons (includes Io, Europa, Ganymede, and Callisto, but not Mars, Venus, and the Moon)

By the way, these are intended for use with the high-resolution add-on maps. They'll probably work without them, but I can't be sure. In any case, they'll probably look worse without them.

And now for screenshots.

The Vastitas Borealis on Mars gets entirely submerged by a big ocean, and several craters form smaller seas. Old riverbeds like the Valles Marineris once again have water in them.

I kept Venus as a cloudy world, though the clouds aren't as dense as in reality. Under these thick clouds we find a tropically warm jungle like there was often imagined to be on Venus before probes started visiting it.

Our own Moon now has a very green ocean under its thin atmosphere. The near side of the Moon has a lot more water than the far side, which has become very forested. It makes for a nice view from Earth.

Finally, we have the four Galilean moons. They all have thick atmospheres that give them a huge greenhouse effect to warm them up. The presence of liquid water and life have hardly tamed Io's heavy volcanism, and the materials expelled from the moon's insides give the entire world odd colours. Europa has mostly melted and become almost an oceania, with the exception of some islands, as has Callisto. Ganymede, meanwhile, has smaller oceans and more land.

The Moon looks fabulous! The ocean and vegetation color make it look so tropical. It's candy for my eyes. Sweet work. smile

apenpaap, did you see default terraformed SS mod? It is called SolarSys3000.sc and was included in SE since 0.93

Europa, Ganymede, Callisto and Titan would never have land. If we start heating them, they become oceanias with very deep oceans - 100 km for Europa and 500-1000 km for other moons. Because they are ice worlds - composed by a rocky core and water ice mantle (92%/8% for Europa, 50%/50% for Ganymede, Callisto and Titan).

Thanks, I really like the Moon's colours too. They were a pleasant surprise when I turned it into a terra. I just needed to adjust its sea level and atmosphere afterwards, the program did the rest.

Yeah, I know about SolarSys3000, but I wanted to terraform the Solar System for myself, really. And as it turns out, they look quite different.

I also know the terraformed Galilean moons are a highly improbable idea, which is why I provided a download without them, as they're mainly in for fun.

Check the date of the last post and then leave threads this old alone.
Also, they work if you click the attachment links at the bottom, though you'll have to modify the files a tiny bit.

Tips for finding Earth-Like planets: Look for F, G, or K Class stars. M class habitables will almost always be tidelocked. Oceanias can, of course, also be habitable, they just have tiny amounts of land.

Thanks for the help. I already noticed the dates but I didn't notice the files on the bottom.
