I was so sad when i saw that it was a horrible console port.

Honestly I though the game was really fun. It didn't feel like a console port to me.

I guess i'm just more sensitive those little annoyances. And don't get me wrong, I still very much enjoyed the game. It just could have been so much more.

No. I was just playing with the "splashes.txt" folder.

Oh. sad

Sometimes, I imagine a mix between Space Engine, Universe Sandbox, and From Dust. Creating an entire universe from the landscapes, with its inhabitants, to the galaxies.

Another game I tested is SCP087b, an horror game when you walk in a dark corridor, waiting for a shadow to kill you... If you want thrills, I recommand it.

Was just about to post about that. I preordered it because it was fun on Xbox but then I saw the PC version was the same as the Xbox version, if not worse.

Also i was really mad, when i discovered that there was no sandbox mode. I just wanted to play freely on a big map and play god. I hate objective based gameplay in a god game.

I love sandbox type games myself.

Another cool simulator of manned air jet fighters with naval carrier. Cool graphics with UE3, but no realism, as always.

Yes it is unrealistic. But then again the best space combat sims I've ever played were all absurdly unrealistic. It would be very challenging to make a game like that and adhere properly to Newtonian physics.

I know. The naval-style designs seem to be popular.

It's CryEngine 3

Games like this don't need to be that realistic in my opinion. That's what SpaceEngine is for. wink

Evochron Mercenary has Newtonian physics, and it's a fairly good combat sim.

I've never heard of it, I'll have to try it out.

Apparently, there will be real physics, at least in some sense. Direct quote from the Star Citizen site:

Real Physics, but fun to fly!

Full rigid body simulation of all spaceships
You wanted proper Newtonian mechanics. You got it! Spaceships adjust their trajectory and orientation just like the real thing.

Intelligent Flight Control System (IFCS)
Like a modern day F-35, the ships have fly by wire systems which take the player's inputs and then translate them into the commands for the ship's engine and thrusters to articulate and deliver the required thrust to achieve the pilot's request.

Dynamic Ship Maneuverability
Ship's performance is calculated dynamically based on various physical variables and the ability of your jet maneuvering to deliver thrust towards a requested vector. What does this mean? Infinite customization with component damage, mass or energy changes
affecting maneuverability on the fly - allowing for endless combat strategies and results.

Ship Components matter!
Because we are fully simulating the physics and flight dynamics, the actual components matter. If a port thruster is damaged, it will affect your maneuverability organically. If you upgrade your thruster package with enhanced thrusters that gimbal faster and deliver more thrust it will affect your performance. Dump cargo, you may be able to get the edge in turning in a dogfight.

On the subject of space combat sims: if any of you are Freespace players (or even if you're not), you should check out the Diaspora: Shattered Armistice BSG mod that was finally released a month ago after four years of development. It's amazing, it completely overhauls the FS2 experience, the assets look spectacular, and it actually has real physics (or very nearly) which Freespace of course did not have.

I don't think you actually need to have Freespace 2 in order to play it, so everyone go download it and have fun!

I saw a mod come out for Crysis 2 for extremely high resolution textures and had to try it out.

Some Crysis 2 screens with a customized FXAA profile for increased color saturation, sharpening, FXAA obviously, adjusted color tones for more realistic coloring, MaLDoHDv4 texture pack, and maxed out on Ultra using Dx11.

I really didn't think my PC could handle all the effects but apparently it does.

Massive image dump

I don't think I can push anymore quality out of the engine though nor do I think my PC could handle anymore. wacko
