Something like that. smile

Although they say genetic engineering. Your post made me think of a bunch of Roswell greys turning on some smoother jazz and getting it on with some hairy, small skulled, hunched back, primitive humans.

Oh dear the visuals

Actually there is a theory that early humans were a slave race for the aliens but then some of the aliens got "involved" with the human slaves, which made us smarter and able to rebel. They actually use this theory in Assassins Creed lore (i think).

I thought that they were landing pads for Goa'uld ships cool (not an SG fan, I just saw the movie once)

They do, saw that in Assassin's Creed 2. Kinda silly but they gotta go somewhere if they keep pumping out games.

I watched every episode in a week straight, or 2 weeks. Don't remember how long it took me but I ended with watching the 2 movies that concluded the show.

Decent show, wouldn't do that again.

I think I'm the crazy one here so its safe to say you are figments of my imagination.

I wish these forums had a youtube embedding option.

They supposedly do have a youtube imbedding option.

Code

I've never tested it however.

Ah I think I've seen this one before. It's amazing how much "expert testimony" you can produce if you quote people out of context biggrin

I like to think of the Moon like this.

If there was no Moon we wouldn't be here to talk about it. More than likely the Earth would have an unstable rotation and wild temperature fluctuations on the surface. And as most people here know all too well, space is big and uncommon things tend to happen all the time.

So it seems the Moons existence is something to be expected if you live on a planet like Earth.

David Icke says aliens, Alex Jones says just secret societies. So many disagreements in the conspiracy groups.

Bohemian grove is supposedly part of the Illuminati rituals or something.

That sounds rather like the anthropic principle.

In any case, we do know that collisions like the one we think formed the Moon are actually fairly common by studying other nascent planetary systems. The collision easily explains the lighter density of the Moon, as well as its orbit. Aside from its relatively low density, and its large size compared to Earth versus other planet/satellite systems, there isn't anything terribly special about the Moon.

Well in a sense it is. But its true too if you think about it. It doesn't make us special it simply says we wouldn't find ourselves here if the conditions for us being here weren't here.

Plus computer simulations of all the different ideas behind the Moon support the collision model overall the rest.

The moon is vitally important for the current life on Earth

True. The only thing about the anthropic principle is that it doesn't give any explanations for why things are they way they are, only why they aren't any way else.

True and true. I wonder what effect the Moon had on the development on land based life. A very long time ago, the Moon would have been much closer to Earth and the tides would have been extreme. I wonder if this aided or hindered the development of life, or if it made no real difference.

Even a partial answer is still helpful in understanding something further.

When the Moon first formed and was working itself into a stable orbital trajectory I suspect it was quite chaotic. Most likely I'd guess life did not exist at the time of collision. The Moon is about the same age as the Earth after all and life started quite a while after that.

I'm sure the tides were a lot stronger but you have to remember the structure of Earth in the far past was very different, land wise, than it is today. I'm willing to bet that life did just fine on such long geologic time scales, after all we are here now and things tend to be mostly fine.

Edit:

So pretty much the proposed history of Earth with years of study provides a far more credible answer to the origin of the Moon than aliens.

Yes, it is a good beginning. But I just feel as if some people use it as an answer to "why x" and never go beyond it. Not most people, but some people. Eh, I just like to argue every point I come across, don't mind me happy

I was thinking about what might be going on between 2 and 3 billion years ago, when life existed but was still primitive (a very long time before your map starts). I know that it did not harm the development of life in general, but I just wonder what smaller effects it could have had, or what might have happened differently if the Moon had formed at its present distance. Just idle thoughts, nothing Earth-shattering (unlike the collision with Thea, ba-ZING!)
