| 21th December was cloudy, but today (22th) was superb with one of the greatest displays of mother-of-pearl clouds that I've ever seen. So I made a new video. These clouds are so bright that the video doesn't do them justice, since they get overexposed which makes them appear white (in reality they have all kinds of unexpected colours). The clouds prolonged the twilight quite a bit. Also seen is the effects of temperature inversion (the fog). Watch in 1080p fullscreen if you can.

| Fireinthehole, yes but luckily i am living 850 meters above the sea level so when is really cold there is snow here in the high mountain above 700 meters, but there is snow just 1 time every year on average for 1-3 days of snow. Sometimes you dont see snow 5 years. On December of 2013 there was snow storm here the largest in many years. My parents didnt see something like that. More then 60 centimeters of snow deep. Was really fun to see that but there wasn't electricity for 2 days because of the snow! Can you imagine 2 days in snow without something to warm you, just blankets. Fun to see that, not to feel it. I went with my dad to the small market close to my house to buy bread, we couldn't know when the electricity will get work again, but there was no bread, all the people bought all of it, no trucks with supplies can get there. We couldn't watch t.v or see what happend and when the electricity will get working again. But luckily after 4 days it was over. It took few weeks to all the snow to melt. I know it sound crazy to you that it happened just with 60 centimeters of snow but you need to remember that is it so rare that no one really ready for it. I hope the government did something about it or learned from that. Ohh and i just heard that there probably be snow here next week but small amount of snow. Just 1 degree C in the night so not gonna be like on 2013 but still finally some snow.

| The sun's been away for a while here as well, but was partly visible today. Here just after sunset, and a weak sun pillar can be seen. Probably cause by very light snow in the air.

| Another broken snow machine, Midtskogen?
I was in Oslo over Christmas 2010. One night the sky was full of pillars like that. Turned out the next day that a ski slope's artificial snow machine broke, and started spraying out super-fine ice particles, which settled in a stable thermal layer above the city, and mirrored all the lights on the ground. It looked like columns of light in the sky. At first, I thought I was seeing the Aurora, but I realised they were pretty unchanging and there was no ribboning effect. Also, they weren't green.

| Well, ice crystals did make things worse, but pillars wouldn't appear if the lighting was more sensible. Snow cannons did contribute somewhat, but more humid with snow caused pillars to form everywhere. The temperature was around -14C.
I went out to get some more picture. Drove off to a location where numerous pillars seemed to rise 1-2 km into the air. Then to discover that I had left my memory card at home...
A newspaper posted this interesting timelapse.
