This thread is for posting awesome, fun, boring, bad, lame etc, things you did on any day that is today. Not last year, not last week, not yesterday... Today! However background information can be supplied if it is needed. If you feel it is significant or insignificant enough for others to hear the news, then post it here! It doesn't have to be something out of a movie it can be something you found was different than an average [Insert name here] day, something interesting that happened, or even just a plain old what you did today. The purpose of this thread is to give people an idea of the things you do or don't do, and to entertain them as well with crazy, awesome, sad, normal etc, stories. Sometimes you just need to tell people "What you did today". Hopefully the mods allow this thread.
I'll start off seeming as I had an awesome day myself today. I'll spoiler tag my story to separate it from the thread introduction as it is something optional which you may or may not want to read.
Today was awesome. Was at the beach for 10 hours with my mate Michael since 11:30am to 9:30pm. It was Australia day here in... Australia, obviously, and there there was a festival down at the foreshore in Rockingham.
I drank a little since I don't drink much I only had 4 beers, killed heaps of jellyfish with my bare hands because apparently they can't sting you on the palm of your hand, I even wiped the stingers across my stomach and arms to prove that they weren't that painful, did festival things, made four new friends (This guy named Nick and then these girls Jess and Isabella, then later on Isabella's boyfriend Adam) then me and Michael watched the fireworks go off from about 100 meters away.
The funniest part was when my mate (He wanted me to do this with him but I'm not that crazy) yelled out AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE to thousands of people on the beach just before the fireworks went off and then everyone else in the immediate proximity to us screams out OI OI OI (It's an Aussie saying if you don't understand, just search it up or something). He's a really out there guy, and does the craziest things. There's video evidence of two of the crazy things he's done a while ago, but none these days. For example: Invading the Perth Glory soccer match, Live on Foxtel or when he strip danced in front of hundreds of people on a canteen bench when we were still back in High School. Some random guy from our High School uploaded these, not me, however we both completed high school back in 2012.
Should have seen the traffic when we were trying to leave, it was the worst I've ever seen. When we were stuck in the parking area traffic this random South African guy just came walking in front of our car, balancing a glass beer bottle on his head, jumped up big curb with it still on and then walked down the street and out of sight. It was awesome but random.
Uhm, ok. Since I'm a bit older than most here, my day was different. Kids aged 2, 6 and 7 set some limitations for what a random Sunday can be. Anyway, the two aged 6 and 7 had enrolled in a cross country competition for today. The arena (Holmenkollen in Oslo) is not far from here, about 1.5 km, so we went on foot and skis and the idea was to pull the 2 year old on a sledge, but she insisted on walking all the way herself pulling the sledge with her plush dog on it. So it took 45 minutes to get there and we got to the start just in time for the first kid. I missed most of the races because after a while at the arena the 2 year old began complaining about getting cold, so I had to go indoor with her. Back home I finished the roast lamb which had become nice and tender in a sous vide water bath by itself while we were gone, and the dinner was pretty good today, if I can say so. It was a relatively relaxing day. The rest of the day was filled with regular homely tasks. If it was a regular Sunday with no competition we would probably have gone skiing anyway and been away for more of the day. And right now the kids are (more or less) in bed, so I can spend some time at the computer.
Are you talking about snow? I've never seen snow before.
Yes, snow, I mean cross country skiing. Actually, I don't know what place, haven't checked. For the youngest class they didn't sort the results. Everyone got a medal...
It's been snowing almost non-stop for two weeks now, just a few breaks of a couple of hours now and then. Not much, 5-10cm of very fluffy stuff a day. Well, perhaps 15cm overnight today. It's 6am and I'm off to shovel again...
Oh I thought you meant running cross country haha. What is skiing cross country like.
Wow, all that snow and I've never even seen the stuff. Damn, and you have to shovel the stuff, and at 6am, that is crazy. I don't know if you'd want to, but I want to see a picture of all the snow.
I find it funny how you are in Norway freezing your a** off in the snow, while I'm here in Australia burning my face off in the sun.
DIS7RICT, you should go see some of the pictures i have posted on the "show off your work" thread and astrophotography thread
Damn, I love them Mountain ranges, I love them! That's some awesome photography, you were lucky to go to Norway on a trip. Is that what snow looks like? Just tiny ice crystals? That's an amazing photo. The fake snow they sell in the shops here is like cold goo, it's nothing like the stuff in your picture! Do you have a DeviantArt account or something for your photos, I would like to see more!

Today i went to school and drank too much coffee.
School, like High School? Or College as they call it everywhere except in Australia. Yes, I love coffee too, today I tried tea, coffee and Milo all mixed in one. It was pretty good.
Before going to work today, I shoveled 1 cm thick(hm..) snow near my workplace entrance - a patch 1 meter wide and 2 meters long. It's required by organization routine - so it's my turn today to clear it.
Oh I thought you meant running cross country haha. What is skiing cross country like.
I don't foresee cross country running in January, or crawling through waist deep snow, ever becoming a great sport over here. Skis were invented for a reason. Cross country skiing can be like this (an odd encounter I recently posted here):

So just for you, I live here, taken with my phone when I got home today:
