It would probably be best to get to know individual users through private messages and exchange FB addresses that way rather than asking people to publicly post that information, which most users would probably be uncomfortable with.

I'm actually okay with the new comment system, I don't really care. I don't get what all the fuss is about. People always complain on YouTube, it's not the first time they do

The fact that there are always people complaining does not automatically invalidate everyone's complaints.

I don't get what all the fuss is about.

They went from a system with a fair degree of organization and control to one with nearly none. I don't see why anyone would think that was ok or sensible.

Nearly every change made to Youtube over the past few years has been for the worse.

I prefer G+ because it's not Facebook.

Also, there's LinkedIn.

I'm too old and too young for Facebook. That is, too old to get excited about it, and too young because my children aren't using it yet.

I do have a Facebook profile, however. I made it after several requests, but I rarely check it (a few times a year to go through friend requests or any messages). I get some occasional mails from Facebook, but I often don't have a clue what they are (what does it mean that someone "pokes" me, for instance?).

I also have a LinkedIn account, which I think is slightly more useful to be able to reach people who I don't know well enough to have their e-mail. And it pretty much replaces the need to keep business cards.

Twitter, no.

I used to be active on Usenet, mostly 10-20 years ago, but it seems to be pretty dead now. The news server that I was using disappeared a few years ago. I think it's sad that Usenet is dying. I've always preferred it to web site forums, since most web site forums are different. It's much better to have a single client that can be used for all forums and to have all forums in one place. I'm using Emacs for both e-mail and Usenet.

I never was very active on IRC, and still only occasionally now. But I'm glad it's still around pretty much as it was when I began using it more than 20 years ago. Simplicity is not a bad thing.

Blogging, to some extent. I created a weather/earthquake/misc remote sensing web site 10 years ago and I still usually make a few posts a month. Now I'm more active on a meteor site that I'm running. Back in the 90's I kept a more personal blog/web site, written in Latin as a way to practise the language, but I haven't updated it in 10 years.

Back in the 80's I was active in the demo scene and fairly well known as a coder. But this was before the internet explosion, so contact with other people were mostly through regular mail, phone, copy parties and BBS's.

That's like saying you prefer to live in Afghanistan because it's not North Korea.
