| Since the activity is low currently, a quiz might help. Should we have a separate quiz thread?
Anyway, who's able to locate the following Google maps snapshots?
I have a feeling that they're either extremely easy (if you live not far from the place) or pretty hard.

| Quote (HarbingerDawn) 3) Provincetown, Cape Cod, Massachusetts, USA I would be surprised if you hadn't guessed. I wouldn't have had an idea myself if I hadn't sailed through Cape Cod. Some hints: 1. The largest number of small islands/skerries in the world (about 50,000), appeared a few thousand years ago in fresh water, now in saline water. 2. Hercules. 4. 30 km natural bridge between two countries now under water but passable up until the 15th century. 5. Remains of an ancient disaster.

| 1: Harb already got it. --Er, 3, I mean.
4: Gulf of Mannar, between India and Sri Lanka.
5: I was thinking Krakatau at first, even more so after I read the clue, but Krakatau isn't surrounded by as much land. I guess Krakatau wasn't really ancient, either... I feel like I'm going to face-palm when I hear the answer(s).

| More hints:
1: Most of the people living here speak the language of the neighbouring country to the west. The archipelago pretty much links the two countries, and it often freezes over in winter. 2: (SpaceEngineer got that right) 3: (Harb got it) 4: (Whatsisname got it) 5: Atlantis

| Pacific Rim! I've bought my ticket and will see it today. It's been a while since I've been really genuinely excited about a movie.

| I just saw Pacific Rim yesterday, it was actually better than I expected. Was very faithful to the giant robots / monsters film genre and a lot of fun to watch!
By the way folks, tomorrow I will begin a cross country road trip I've been hoping to do for ages, and spending time out in the Pacific northwest. I should have internet access once I'm out there, but in general I won't be online very much for the next couple of weeks. So I'll see you all again in August at the latest.
