| Quote DeathStar ( ) To me, this looks like a very pro-playstation video. First of all, the two race games look (to me at least) identical. No really, they do! Then, comparing Minecraft to Killzone? Seriously? It's not meant to be a serious comparison, probably why it was posted in this thread as opposed to the video game thread.

Just watched an interesting video about Graham's number. It's quite big...

| Billy_Mayes, Wow, if someone thought that googol was big, then this will blow their mind. I also did some research on Wikipedia, and discovered something that made it even more mind blowing- if you took the approximate size of the universe in planck lengths, you would still get a number smaller than Grahams'!

| It's not only smaller but unfathomably smaller! Even the number of possible arrangements of Planck volumes doesn't compare.
Number of Planck volumes in observable universe is ~10186. Number of arrangements is the factorial of that, or ~10186! ~ 10^10^10^2.275. That's stupidly big, you can't even write it in standard scientific notion without using iteration.
But arrow notation rapidly gets even worse. 3↑↑3 = 3↑3↑3 = 3^3^3 = 3^27 ~ 7 trillion. Now add more arrows. 3↑↑↑3 = 3↑↑(3↑↑3) = 3↑↑(3^3^3) = 3↑↑(3^27) ~ 3↑↑(7x1012) or 3^3^3^3^3... repeated about 7 trillion times. We're already at a number far greater than 10^10^10^2.275, and we can't even use iterated scientific notation to write it anymore.
Now add more arrows. And now make a nested loop where the result of each step determines the number of arrows used in the next step. You rapidly get to a stage where even the iterated arrow notation fails. That's the craziness of Graham's Number.

| That is fabulous.
A number that is necessarily far higher than the quantity of anything in the universe at any given point. Anything physical, anyway.

Sort of kind of. I don't actively follow it but I've seen episodes of it.

| There's a major tornado warning in my area. I am hiding in the bathroom, which is the closest we have to a basement
UPDATE: My neighborhood is okay. The tornadoes were all more southwest. But still... At least four people were killed. I hope all my friends are okay. What a day.
MSNBC, Scores of Tornadoes kill 4, injure at least 37 in Midwest Quote Watsisname ( ) Yikes, Joey, hope you came through it okay. Stay safe. Thank you, Watsisname
