I can't wait until the full resolution images are available! It will take weeks, but it will be worth it

| Here's a gif I made to show the difference in resolution between the thumbnail and the full resolution versions of the MARDI frame (view in a separate tab at full resolution to see the most detail and to avoid the moiré pattern):

| I should point out something that may be of interest to everyone.
The Curiosity rover is the most capable robotic spacecraft ever to land of Mars. Its computer has 256 MB of RAM, 2 GB of storage, and 32 MB of operating software. Its one-core CPU has a clock speed of 133 MHz. And it is exploring Mars.
Your cell phone is more capable than this.
The engineers that can make this happen deserve the highest respect.

Here on Earth sure but the stuff they send to other planetary bodies and out into space is usually always a bit behind the times. They have to make sure its going to work in hostile environments and in case the thing explodes on the way there its best not to invest in the greatest of everything and stick it on a single rover.

| I understand the reason that it is so much less capable. But my point is about how much they can accomplish with such limitations.

I say we give them more money, as much as possible really. Just think of what NASA could accomplish if they had a budget even 1/8 the size of the national defense budget.

| This is one of my favorite pictures yet. If I didn't know better, I'd say that this was taken on Earth!
Take it and view it in full res, and look closely at the dirt. It has such a familiar appearance! And for some reason that makes it all the more spectacular
