A team have been looking at the various periodic spectral patterns coming from Eta Carinae. They've come up with a model to explain these emissions.
Eta carinae is a binary star, with the primary at 90 solar masses and the secondary 30 solar masses. They are in a highly eccentric orbit around each other, and much of the X-ray emission comes from the interaction of their stellar winds when they are at periastron.

| I like a lot the 3D Eta Carinae depiction in the video. As can be seen here, it is quite realistic.

| Yeah, I just checked out this article.
I went to hunt down the star in Space Engine and unfortunately the star it sent me to was some 100 light years away from the nebula, and the nebula was devoid of any stars.
Looking to hopefully see this unique system updated in a future update. Maybe even get some similarly procedurally generated content making planetless systems more interesting when some are as exotic as this system.
