| Jesus Crashman1390, who cares what NASA PR photos show (also, you should REALLY learn how such images are made before using them in this way...)
Just look up into the sky next time Mars comes around, preferably with binoculars or a telescope. Its color is obvious.
Also, some of the stuff in that picture is just plain fabricated. Like that so-called "MOLA" image? Yeah... MOLA was a laser altimeter, not a camera. It didn't, and couldn't, take any pictures. So props to the author on that one.

| No need to get angry! I'm just tying to get a point across. I don't know what set off you. But all I am doing is showing why I am curious about why almost every mars picture is a different color. Besides it doesn't matter anyways! And by now how you guys are treating me on these forums I should just leave! Let us go our separate ways. O.K.?

From what I can determine, you've been pointing out a supposed discrepancy/flaw/whatever in true-color Mars images several times, and people on this forum, especially HarbingerDawn, have explained to you the basics of true-color imaging each time. Now you posted something where several of the images are not based on true-color data or even from color/spectral data at all. So I can completely understand Harbinger becoming frustrated with you here, because frankly it doesn't look like you're taking in the information that has been presented to you.
That being said, there is no need for anyone to get overly emotional, and you certainly do not have to leave the forum. But do what you wish, nobody is forcing you on anything.

The colors are all real, but not perfectly natural. Creating natural color products from MER images is something of a nightmare. But these are reasonably close to what it probably looks like (and yes, somewhat dark and saturated). You'll notice that some parts of the pictures have a greenish or bluish tint; those are often found in MER images and are not accurate (but it's hard to get rid of them).

Why? Searching for life is not the main reason for sending people to Mars. The biggest reason is colonization, which becomes even more attractive if there is no life (because no contamination risk).
And besides that, not finding methane in the air is not evidence against life being there. It's just odd because other investigations had found methane, so for a surface vehicle to not detect it is unexpected.

Not past, but present. While I think it's hard for a planet to get rid of life once it has established itself, Mars may have had life in the past. And no methane detected doesn't really rule out life either. I personally think, however, until extraordinary evidence has it otherwise, that Mars is dead and always has been.

Well it either has or hasn't been, and we don't know which. There is evidence to support both positions, none of it conclusive. For me, Mars is just maybe dead or alive or once alive and now dead. I don't have a belief on the matter one way or another, nor even a strong preference for one of those options to be true over another

These images are the highest resolution pictures of Mars i've ever seen. Most common Martian surface photos are older and low-res, like the ones you see in books, papers etc.
