| Everybody knows how seen from Earth stars and even planets give the optical illusion of sparkling or blinking or how ever you call it. Well i have a simple question. Tonight i was sitting outside and its a pretty clear night and i was looking at this star/planet im not really sure which one it is. Im not really good at recognising the bodies. So anyways i was looking at it and as expected it was blinking and changing colors from blu to red to white at least thats what i could make out. It was pretty bright and in a few minutes it started getting dimmer and dimmer till it disappeared. I couldnt see it anymore at all. I tried looking aside and sorts thinking it was my own eyes playing tricks on me but no the light wasnt there till a couple of minutes later it came back and got bright again and after a little more it disappeared again. Now is that how a star/planet should act or is it something else? cuz ir didnt move a bit.

1) Were there any clouds?
2) Was the object moving?
3) Where was the object in the sky (altitude and direction)?
4) How bright was the object compared to other objects of known brightness (compared to an airplane, or the brightest stars, etc.)?
5) Did the object have any noticeable color (reddish or bluish)?

| A very thin cloud could obscure the sky just a tiny bit, so you couldn't see the faintest objects.

1) As i said it was as clear as a sky could get at night
2) No it wasnt moving
3) Im not that good with directions as i said i cant really recognize the objects in the sky well. I live in Sozopol, Bulgaria the object in question as a rough location was located bout east, north-east between 35-45 degrees of my POV.
4) As i pointed out the pbject was sparkling if i could use that word. At its brightest points it was close to the brightness of the reflection a satelite can give out from the sun when it passes the night sky. i think you can make a rough comparisson.
5) it gave the illusion of changing colors quickly between red blue and white as far as i could tell.
edit: i forgot to mention. day 2 the object seems to be in the same place again and does the same things. going dim and disappearing and then reappearing again going really bright

Interesting... Could you point the object from a star chart? Just take a chart with you next time and try to locate it on the chart using familiar constellations.

| I saw something similar during the day... I was at the beach, and this white dot was in the sky. Unmoving, unblinking. It stayed there for a good ten minutes, maybe longer. Here's a picture.

i could try. im not saying its something that weird or what ever but it does seem pretty strange. ill try to sync it with any chart i can find online. also tried to take a photo or video with my phone but since its a phone and messing with the exposure it didnt turn out well so i gave up lol

What was the time of day, direction, altitude, etc.?

Figuring out the exact direction isn't very difficult... just remember what direction it was and use Google Earth to find the azimuth (heading). And you can estimate the height in the sky by using your hands and fingers.
As for the star chart thing, download the planetarium software "Stellarium". Best free planetarium software available, in my opinion.

This is common for bright stars relatively near to the horizon. What was the exact time of day (what was the hour)?

| Venus? I saw it last night - it is extremely bright, I even couldn't resolve its shape in the 25x binoculars. You may easily see it in a daytime.
