| I thought it might be helpful to have a central location on the forum for collecting resources that could be useful for making addons, such as links to texture maps, data on astronomical objects, etc.
Post any relevant resource links here!
A particularly nice Jupiter texture: http://laps.noaa.gov/albers/sos/sos.html#JUPITER
Extremely high resolution (over 60,000 pixels wide!) maps of Mercury using orbital data from MESSENGER: http://messenger.jhuapl.edu/the_mission/mosaics.html
Great Phobos map: http://www.unmannedspaceflight.com/index.p....y159941
Good maps for Saturn's moons, especially Iapetus: http://laps.noaa.gov/albers/sos/sos.html#SATURN
Some planetary maps from Björn Jónsson are here: http://www.mmedia.is/~bjj/planetary_maps.html The Jupiter/Cassini texture is especially good. His images are freely available for public use, provided that he is cited as the author.

| 3D models from NASA : http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/3d_resources/models.html In futures versions it would be nice to have a Add On representing all the importants missions with all the real spacecrafts (Not only from Nasa, also Russian). + I would looove to have a cosmonaut

| ^Ooh, those are nice. If I wasn't so busy, I'd probably try to figure out a way to get ISS, Hubble, Voyager, and probably a bunch more into SE. As it is, it'll have to wait at least a month. :/
I occasionally stream at http://www.twitch.tv/magistermystax. Sometimes SE, sometimes other games.

They use a bunch of tiny textures and the models look extremely cartoony. I already attempted to add some of NASA's models and they don't look very good.

| cartoon what? They appeared to me cartoony too when I saw them, but I told to myself that with a re texturing work, the models still can be useful, and some of them don't seem that much ugly (Maybe they are in SE as you said..) :

Well in SE you can only use 1 texture. You have to completely remap the models and thats a lot of work. Some of the models I can't open with 3DS sadly, and even in that case the high res ISS model uses a lot of textures.
I really hope Space Engineer adds multi texture support in the next release.

That would be great since some of the default gas giant textures are actually pretty nice.

| The Rings of Saturn in SE do look nice, nevertheless, maybe this can help to further improve the appearance of the Rings in future versions:

| Atmoscat, the rings already include more data than this, I doubt this could do anything to dramatically improve them.
Also, this really belongs in the Addon Resources thread, so I'm moving it there
