This is my attempt to create the system from the film 'Pitch Black'.

In my version, the planets are not so close together as in the film.
If the planets were so close together, predators would presumably be not the biggest problem.
Therefore, the night does not last as long as in the film.

The parameters and the names of the suns and planets I invented myself.

I wanted a system that is not completely impossible from the outset; so unlikely it may be.
Whether I have succeeded, I can not judge, for that, I'm not enough astronomer and mathematician.

Since the spacecraft was destroyed by a meteorite, I have added a couple of comets. These can quite destroy the night however.

Of course, I did not want to renounce one impossibility. The planet with three rings.

For SE 0.974 RC2 put the .pak file in the 'addons' folder.

Code
Place    "Night 2011 Fov 5"
{
    Ver  974
    Body    "Tar"

    Vel  2.6670232e-015

Code

Hi there,

I'm new to SE. This addon looks awesome. Could someone tell me how I should install this in SE 0.980?

Just as in SE 0.974 RC2.

Simply put the 'PitchBlack.pak' file in the folder 'SpaceEngine\addons'.

Unfortunately, the three rings do not work properly in SE 0.980.

JackDole, this is nice! I like the view of all the comets. Imagine a night sky like that... smile

Watsisname,
thank you!

That there are so many comets, was actually an error in the random distribution. dry

They appear not quite so frequently in my current version. wink

The rings are now functioning again. Somewhat.

Great, thanks! But from what rock are you looking at the 3 rings planet in that last screenshot? I can't seem to find a moon around that planet.

That is the planet 'Tar'. With a narrow field of view. 'FOV 10', if I remember correctly.

Correction:
It's 'FOV 5'

Here is the position:
Code
Place    "Fence, as seen from Tar. (FOV 5)"
{
    Ver  980
    Body    "Tar"
    Parent    "Raven"
    Date    "2011.01.01 12:00:00.00"
    Pos  (+000000000000007C9E82800039B24282 -0000000000000EC32D900000DA4F93A6 +00000000000005094E3874863F27A509)
    Rot  (0.01698963019642323 -0.9915241810575546 -0.1288004188611288 -0.001266074694660504)
    Vel  2.6670232e-015
    Mode    2
}

And 'Eclipse shadows' should be disabled. Otherwise it is dark.

JackDole, thank you, I like this system :)

We can see "satellites" of Fence makes its other rings in the first picture... I hope there is another way to make several rings at once for the same celestial body.

I do not think that there is another method.
Finally, such rings are actually a physical impossibility.

You could of course use asteroids instead of moons.

They would then at least not appear in the 'System browser'.
But for some reason, it does not work so well with asteroids.

Okay, you can make the dot (the ring core) in Fence invisible.

I have set these values to zero:
Code

    AlbedoBond      0.0
    AlbedoGeom      0.0
    Brightness      0.0
    Color          (0.0 0.0 0.0)

Put the modified PitchBlack.sc script in 'addons\catalogs\planets'

JackDole, thanks for the patch. Good continuation for this system or your other mods.
