Hello everyone,

are there any plans (is someone working on) for a Clementine data based, full color, non-shaded surface texture map for the latest version of SE? The new one in the add-on section is of very high resolution, probably based on LROC data, which in fact shows most of the surface with shadows from the sun at more or less the same altitude above the horizon. Don't get me wrong, the detail is fantastic, however, I'd prefer a non-shaded surface map with subtle color information and have the shadows be done in realtime by the elevation map.
I believe the file structure of planetary surface maps has changed, so I can't use my own, customized, surface map from SE 0.971?
Thanks for any replies! smile

You can use your map from 0.971 in the same way it worked in 0.971
If you linked me a dataset you have used, I will make an addon. I'm not sure though that Clementine map have bigger resolution than the current LRO map.

for the now almost antique Clementine data from the 90's
NO!!!! ,
and that is a very big NO

now
for the LRO-NAC and WAC data
there IS

but it is a univ. level project being done by undergrads , so it will be awhile

now there are some tools out for doing this
"PhotometryTK"
it is part of NEO geography toolkit and a offshoot of "stereopipeline "
http://ti.arc.nasa.gov/tech/asr/intelligent-robotics/ngt/stereo/
the shape data can be used to remove the sun shading

now it is likely that i might have put together the new moon map
i also have a VERY OLD clementine data map that I reworked to MATCH the then new LOLA data

and in that OLD map i did remove most of the major shading
( it is a lot less noticeable)
