| You're welcome If anyone has any trouble downloading, let me know.
Also, keep in mind that the download speeds will be VERY slow at first until a few people finish and start seeding because my max upload speed is around 40 kB/s.

| I'm not sure if the torrent is working properly since according to my torrent client it hasn't been uploading. Can anyone tell me whether they've been successful at downloading any of it?

| I'm at 4.2% right now after it's been downloading all afternoon. It's only downloaded from pears so far, though, not from the single seed (which I'm guessing is you).

| Weird. I was planning to upload it to a file hosting service for direct downloads, which seems like a doubly good idea since this torrent isn't really working as it should. As soon as I find one that will accept an upload greater than 1 GB I'll do that (of course, it will take 8+ hours if it works at all).

| Thank you Mr.Harb! Unfortunately the torrent is marginally working: around 1k/sec download speed and 25-30 days completion time . Hopefully more people will seed later.. currently my client reports 0 seeders (Vuze) .
Imagine playing an apollo style mission with this texture - its going to be fantastic!

| neutronium76, I'm currently uploading to a file hosting site so even if the torrent does start working properly the speeds are going to be obnoxiously slow. However, in around 8 hours or so a direct download link should become available so you can download as fast as your bandwidth will let you

The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition.

(still don't know why everyone is doing this...)

| Quote (Salvo) my computer will never acept a texture of 1.05 GB The textures on procedural planets are far bigger than that, as are many of the official addon textures. Unless you mean that you don't have enough disk space? If that is the case, I intend to upload a JPEG version which should be less than half the size.

| That is absolutely amazing, nice work Harbinger!

I know very little about this, but isn't there a difference in performance from textures generated procedurally vs. textures loaded entirely from hard disk? I've used high-res textures that aren't even 1GB in size for Celestia and the impact on my performance was tremendous. Different program though, so I don't know.
At any rate I'm eager to try this out, am downloading now. I'll also keep the torrent seeding for a while so that others can get it faster.
edit: Hm, I'm at 11.1% and my rate dropped to about 1kB/s (it is transferring, just very slowly). Everyone else appears to be around 10.8%.

| Nice work HarbingerDawn, downloading torrent. It would be cool to use this texture as default in next version, but we should have John van Vliet's permission...

| Quote (SpaceEngineer) but we should have John van Vliet's permission... He released it under a CC-BY-SA license, which means that he gave everyone permission to use it as long as he is cited as the author. You can even use it for commercial purposes.
Quote (SpaceEngineer) I know very little about this, but isn't there a difference in performance from textures generated procedurally vs. textures loaded entirely from hard disk? I have noticed no performance difference, other than that the textures loaded from the disk don't need to be generated by the GPU first, only the mesh needs to be generated.
Quote (SpaceEngineer) I've used high-res textures that aren't even 1GB in size for Celestia and the impact on my performance was tremendous. Celestia and SpaceEngine are quite different with regards to using textures. In my case, Celestia gave me much LESS of a performance impact than SpaceEngine does for similar textures.
EDIT: 4shared apparently canceled my upload halfway through, so it will still be some time before a direct download option is available. I need to go find a service that will let me upload such a large file, and that will not stop mid-upload. Dropbox is reliable for uploads and will let me upload a file that size, but it is very picky about the download bandwidth that is used, so if I did that then very few people would be able to use it. I might just upload it there, and then have anyone who absolutely cannot torrent PM me for the direct download link.
EDIT 2: Going to try Yandex.Disk. If it works as advertised, then the file should have no trouble uploading and there will be unlimited bandwidth for everyone!
