Guys I have a feeling that you can achieve a similar effect by playing with star scale, star style parameters under ctrl+f4 graphics menu and simultaneously playing with star magnitude and star overbright parameters under F7 menu as Space Engineer suggested previously...

Actually the most important parameter is star scale and star overbright. Star scale should be max 1 (preferably between 0-0.75) and star overbright all way down to 0. Then try to adjust star magnitude with cntrl+[].

Well, with the mod, you don't have to play with all that to achieve the same effect.

Just playing with the scale and magnitude settings will not achieve the same effect because the sprites are still different. It's not just smaller, it has the light fading more gradually, giving a bright center and a much softer edge. There are fundamental differences between the textures, which is what makes this mod so nice.

This .png plus my own preferred settings ingame, so beautiful....

Stars Overbright 1.500
Star Size 2.000

Still much more subtle than the original, but with alot more depth in the soft outer glow.
Thank you so much for this =)

Haha that's funny cause I usually set Star Size to 2 aswell and the apparent mag limit of stars to 8

I really love it, because when I used the original one it caused stars to litterally become oversized and overbrightened if I used those settings. Now on my current settings (in the Milky Way only) the dimmest stars are still between 6.50-7.00 wich is very realistic to the human unaided eye... biggrin

But I usually keep my Stars Overbright on 0 unless I approach a bright globular then I basically increase.

Or other galaxies since they lack the catalog stars ofcourse and lack much more brighter and luminous stars.

Yet again very well done Martek!

You're welcome! I'm going to try your settings out on this and see what happens! Its my pleasure to help out! I figured since our eyes are sensitive we can manipulate some simple textures to create very in depth looking objects and experiences.

I'm glad you are enjoying this soft texture of the stars!! smile Now off to try this. I'll edit my results on your settings. biggrin

He hasn't broken any rules, aside from not posting in the best place, so there's no reason for the ban.
