| First a very big "thank you" for creating and offering this amazing masterpiece! I can't describe how I enjoy these endless flights in your procedural universe! This is exactly the simulator I have ever dreamt of and I can just hardly wait for any gameplay feature you are going to integrate in the future.
I also have a question here... I already have tried to translate the rus-gui.cfg into another language (I'd like to do a german translation, by the way), that is located in the "locale" folder of your space engine. But that didn't change anything. I also noticed there is a "rus" entry in the interface setting of the main.cfg file. Changing it to "ger" for example didn't help either.
Is there anything I could have overseen or am I doing anything wrong? Thanks for any help and please keep up your awesome work!

To make translation you must first create a font texture. Open the 'rus-font.png' and look at it. SpaceEngine has ANSI code system for other languages, so remember DOS epoch Create a new texture called 'ger-font.png' and copy/paste there the 'rus-font.png.' Then draw all required German characters on the bottom two lines (where Russian characters are drawn in 'rus-font.png'). I simply use Photoshop to do this. I can send you a '.psd' file where every character is a layer. You can simply type new characters there. Make sure you create a font according to ANSI coding table. Do not change English or special symbols sections.
Next create the 'ger-font.cfg' file (or better still copy/paste 'rus-font.cfg'). There are two sections - first (FontCharsParams) is the description of character positions and width of the font texture, second (CodeTable) is a code table to convert keyboard codes (unicode) to ANSI codes of characters in the font texture. Edit the last two lines in the 'FontCharsParams' section. First number is an offset of character from left side of cell in pixels, the next number is the width of character in pixels including one pixel for space between chars. Resolution of texture is assumed to be 256*256, so will have 16*16 characters in cells of 16*16 pixels each. It is possible to use 2 or greater cells for one character (look at infinity char).
Next create a code table. I have no idea how to do this, for Russian localization, so I simply do an experiment:) Maybe somewhere on the Internet you can find unicode codes of German characters, or do some experiment Unicode code is the left number in the code table, and the corresponding right number is the ANSI code.
You can check your work in SE: Open 'Find Object' menu (F3) and type in your German chars. If all chars works okay, finish the work by translating 'ger-gui.cfg.' Enable localization in the 'main.cfg' by typing there GUILanguage "ger" (this string "ger" is used to create filenames 'ger-font.cfg,' 'ger-gui.cfg', etc).
Do not delete 'rus-font.png', because it is used for English localization

| Wow, thanks a lot for the fast und detailed answer! I've already expected something like this. Creating a german font file shouldn't be the problem. I just have to take a closer look at ansi code tables. Shouldn't be too hard to figure it out, but it's still a bit new to me. Your step-by-step guide is really helpful, so thanks again! I'll try this out.

| Look at the Character Map in system tools in accessories, it contains the entire ANSI code.
You can also open a text file, and type out 1 - 255 codes using Alt + an ansi code. ie ALT 233 will generate an Ú, Alt 213 = i (I just did it there), so if it the character map doesn't have the numbers, that will get them for you. However remember many codes are special characters like control S n Control C plus other graphic characters like ║ or ╣ or ╗.
Otherwise just look it up on google, bound to be the list there.

| I want to do a German Translation for Space Engine. But I have a problem with the Photoshop template. I have downloaded it and have edited it with Paint.NET with a special Phtoshop plugin, so that it can open Photoshop-files. I have changed some russian letters into the german letters (ä ö ü Ä Ö Ü ß)at the right places, so Space Engine can visualize them. Then I have saved it as a 8-bit png-file and put it into the locale-file named as ger-font. Then I started Space Engine and my problem occurs:
As you can see the words are covered by black colour. (In the first picture you can see, that the special german letters are displayed fine(except the black background) in a test.) Also the interface is covered by black lines. When I click onto them, then the text appaers for a very short time. What is the problem? Oh, and I have translated the whole rus-gui.cfg into German, but not the whole text in Space Engine is translated. I don't have an explanation for this. In the attachment is the edited Photoshop-file, if someone, who has Photoshop, wants to test the file. I hope, someone can help me.

good to see there is some one doing a german translation! Unfortunatelly I never got german umlauts to work correctly. Thats nothing I could present to the public... I am very glad you've solved the problem! I look forward trying your release!

I could imagine something like this:
"Temperate oceania" "Wasserplanet [Gemäßigt]" "Scorched terra" "Gesteinsplanet [Verbrannt]" "Hot desert" "Wüstenplanet [Heiß]" "Warm selena" "Kraterplanet [Warm]" "Cool titan" "Titanplanet [Kühl]" "Cold ice world" "Eisplanet [Kalt]" "Frozen asteroid" "Asteroid [Gefroren]" "Temperate gas giant" "Gasriese [Gemäßigt]" "Temperate ice giant" "Eisriese [Gemäßigt]"
Maybe you'll find other expressions or like a different style. In my opinion it seems more scientifically to name the object first, and put its properties behind. Just a suggestion.

| Denmark not being the biggest community I could imagine that a translation into Danish isn't a priority as for now, but if ever it comes up, I'll be glad to help - though I don't know much about coding and so on, but I do know my way around Danish and English.
