SE images are not free for commercial use, but is Wikipedia commercial resourse? I think no, so it should be possible to use SE images there.

Wikipedia considers non-commercial free images to be non-free images. To quote Wikipedia:

Aside from the claim that this image [the SE logo] qualifies for use without permission under fair use, this image is also available under a license that permits educational, personal, or otherwise non-commercial use. Images available under such terms do not meet the definition of Free Cultural Works as adopted by the Wikimedia Foundation, and are therefore considered non-free on Wikipedia and may only be used under Wikipedia's fair use policy.

Scott Manley has 340k subs and kurtjmac has 370k, and a lot of people on Reddit say that they're "too small", and that a "big" Youtuber should show SE. I don't think that this will satisfy the call for famous people to show off the program.

I am one of them. biggrin I'm currently running a course to become teacher in a primary school and during the course, I have to run several interns in different schools. Every year, I teach children about the awesomeness of space (it's my hobby, after all) and I always take my laptop with SpaceEngine to show on the big digiboard screen. Every time, the kids were very excited and some of them wanted to have the software for themselves. So basically, I'm spreading the word on a smaller scale to a young audience (age 9-12).

how star citizen got so famous?!

It's famous because it's being made by Chris Roberts, who is a famous developer (he created the Wing Commander series). So a lot of people know him and are excited for his work, and he has the resources to promote his project in a professional and effective manner.
