US English vs. UK English

| Which type of English would you rather see used in SpaceEngine? UK English has long been more common internationally, but in recent years US English has started becoming increasingly common as well. My question is: which would you rather see?
I particularly want to hear from non-native speakers of English.
If English is not your first language, use one of the first poll options. If English is your native language, use the poll options that say "I am a native speaker...".
If you're not sure what the difference is between US and UK English, I will provide some examples below. All examples are in UK : US format.

defence : defense

| Even after living for 5 years in the UK, I can not decide. My grammar, spelling and vocabulary is poor so I guess I can live with both if you native speakers can live with mine  .
PS: I didn't know that UK English was more popular worldwide. I thought that US English would be more appealing to international non native English speakers. This is what I normally choose to install with programs, OSs etc if there is no option for my native language (which is usually the case for Greek ;-) ) . I though that UK English is too English for internationals  !

| I'm italian, and for years i've been tought english by UK native-speakers (mainly)
but, tho, my rather.... constant presence around in the internet brought me to use a bit of both US and UK english, specially when writing down things like now (althought i try to stick to UK english when speaking to general "audience").

I had the impression that is was more common, partially because so many places in the world are former British colonies, and so have a UK English tradition, and also because UK-style English is just more "entrenched" worldwide since it was the dominant style for so long of a time. But as I stated, in recent years US English has begun rapidly gaining in popularity, largely due to the internet and computers, and also because it is easier than UK English for beginners to learn.

| I think US English is simplified but it works and to me sounds better

It replaces some letters with letters that make more phonetic sense, and removes other letters that don't contribute at all. If that's simplified, then simplifying is a good thing

I attempted to but Firefox doesn't seem to like polls. I voted for #3 but I think it put in for the first option, such is life when using Firefox with a whole bunch of plugins.

| I prefer US English (though I do use a few UK words as well, like aluminium). I think that most of Central, East, and South-East Europe prefers US too.

| I'm a Brit, and obviously prefer UK English. Not only am I more familiar with it, I can't help but look at some US variations and say "But that's wrong!" like aluminum and airplane.
Perhaps we could have options with SpaceEngine? Just have a box next to US and UK English, and tick the one you want?
