| Quote (Thurs) Have they been not logging in at all? Or maybe lurking? I haven't posted in forever until today yet I would lurk several times a week. I would bet lurking, since everyone "magically" posted as soon as this thread appeared :P
This does bring up an issue though which is what can we do to make the forum a comfortable and inviting place to be so that people will not drift away. We have a wonderful community here and I want it to remain that way. So if there are any types of threads or discussions that should be actively avoided because they turn off too many people to the forum then we should look into that, etc. Any input from anyone is welcome on this topic, I'm curious about opinions.

I can only speak as a new-comer, but one thing that surprised me and motivated me to register in the forum was the interesting science threads, like colonization or ET Life, and one other thing was the fairly quick response time to queries and bug reports. That the head programmer of software I consider to be amazing responds directly to questions right away, is touching.
i3 370M 2.3Ghz ATI Radeon 5650 8GB DDR3 Win 7 (runs SE suprisingly well for a laptop!)

Religion would probably be the biggest thing to avoid or at least be very careful about.

| My guess is that (in USA) everyone is running off for 4th of July, and that after the weekend some of the posters will return. As for myself, granted I 'lurk' a lot but I try to keep my relatively few posts relevant. Also, on many of the subjects posted I believe I should know more before posting on same. Finally, according to Forum Rules, excessive posts are frowned on (or so I gather).....

| Quote (Kimb) excessive posts are frowned on (or so I gather)..... Posting simply for the sake of posting is frowned upon, but simply having a high post rate is not a problem in itself. Look at me, for example, I post like crazy. But every post I make is (I hope) relevant to whatever thread I'm participating in, or is warranted if I make a new thread. Being a legitimate and earnest participant in the community is all that's needed to satisfy that section of the rules; post rate doesn't matter.

| Well, I've mostly been lurking in wait for 0.9.7.1. Perhaps this is why the forum is quiet?
Careful. The PLATT Collective has spurs.

| Quote (Joey_Penguin) Perhaps this is why the forum is quiet? That doesn't explain a sudden drop in activity from one day to the next. This is specifically in the last 3 days that it's been this quiet. People have been "waiting" for 0.9.7.1 for 2 months.

| Perhaps it's a combination of holidays and traveling, and/or people are lurking and not posting as much. There also doesn't seem to be as many new users with troubleshooting/questions/requests threads being made lately, though those seem to come in cycles.
