I'm probably going to be staying on the forums for a while. SpaceEngine, for me, is too intriguing to abandon. Plus, the community here easily on the more friendly side.

This is what surprised me when i joined the forums. On other forums, there tend to be many very unpleasant people, but here the atmosphere is much friendlier.

Yep, me too, just too busy to be active like in the past, but I also feel like the activity has actually increased, because now I find it harder to keep track of every post like I used to. Or maybe I'm just more busy than I used to biggrin

It is harder to keep up with all the posts, but I feel like it is largely new members posting now and that the previous group of active users, like you, has gone quiet. The forum is more active, but also more empty in a way, if that makes sense to you.

It sort of does. If you notice, a lot of the new threads just happen to be threads created by some random user asking about a little issue or something, and then the thread gets forgotten and the user never heard from again.

I have noticed. That is the number one problem with this forum. It creates a lot of clutter and makes it very hard to navigate. I had some ideas on how to reduce some of this, but it's not easy for one person to implement, and I always end up pursuing some other task...

This forum has 9458 posts, and 954 threads. By contrast, the Russian forum has 11,424 posts, but only 234 threads.

I've heard about Space Engine since last year but just last month I bought a notebook that is able to run it lol

I was just lurking here since July until I saw this thread and decided to register smile

And I have to agree with anonymousgamer and Antza2: this forum have a very nice atmosphere, something that is rare these days...

Sorry for any english mistakes, feel free to correct me! tongue

Speaking of posting more, I just made my first post ever on the Russian forum, something I've been long reluctant to do since I don't know Russian. I hope they can understand me okay smile

And Gespenst, greetings and welcome to the forum! We're glad to have you here! Please take a moment and read the forum rules. I'm glad you enjoy the atmosphere of this community. And your English is very good smile

I'd say the forums are much more active now that when I joined. In fact, I registered a forum account just so that I could add another topic or two to the mere handful that were posted on the board. People posting screenshots or videos was rare unlike now. I'd definitely say it's more active now.

Compared to when you joined, it definitely is. But the "decline" described in the OP was referencing the past several weeks, not the past year, and was also referencing a specific category of users. Activity from new users has been on a steady increase.

As for my recent inactivity, I ascribe it to three basic causes: 1. I've been in hard crunch mode at work, almost no leisure time. 2. Been making a lot of KSP tutorial videos in the little free time I do have. 3. I've been avoiding the rather flamey, argumentative threads that have been cropping up lately.

Of course. No one here needs to give an account of themselves, and I understand that such a thing as "real life" exists.

Maybe we have different ideas about what constitutes argumentative? I can only think of one or two that degenerated into bad territory. There have been a few others that have been a little more intense than the usual forum fare, but they generally stay within the realm of healthy discussion, though I admit that I have a pretty broad view of what can be considered healthy discussion. Everyone has their preference though, I understand.

Ah, I understand.

Have they been not logging in at all? Or maybe lurking? I haven't posted in forever until today yet I would lurk several times a week.
