Thurs, What program did you use to capture video? I tried fraps, but when using observed numerous artifacts on the screen.

I used the built in capture function of SE. You can start it by hitting F9. This just dumps jpgs of every frame. Then, I opened it in WMM and turned it into a video.

Cool images and video guys. Neon, can you place some more beautiful images into the site gallery?

Record some more video in HD (1280*720) - I would like to update the Video page of the site:) I don't have much time to make my own video, so maybe you could help me? smile

I see you like to name planets:) Maybe I should make a procedural name generator?

Or is it better to make a database for users to add their own places and names? (But this would require networking...)

You could do both. You could keep procedurally generated names but allow for an official renaming. While it would be best with networking, it's not completely necessary. You could provide an updated catalog of location names that users could periodically download.

Also, I'll capture some more video, definitely. I'm still practising with getting it to work properly on my computer. My video card only has 512mb of VRAM. I'll find some cool shots and upload them to this thread - you may take whatever media I create from here and do what you want with it.

Hey,

Lovely shots again there Thurs as usual :)..

Vova, I can add pics to the gallery no probs, but I no nothing
of doing videos, Thurs your man there. I will do some vids,
but since I've never really done it before, I wouldn't
trust me to do it lol. Maybe when I've learned more
about it. I do want to do a small one on a day in
the life of jupiter from Io

As for names, I think both is good too, but the option to
rename from users. One way to do it before the networking
is an online editable catalog, where users can download
the catalog and rename objects. Bit messy but would work,
problem is would ppl use it. Would need a search function.
Better n much more simpler would be allow renames in
journal, and a simple upload of journals, sifting out duplicates
and either auto download (patch) or the updated journal,
or simply user downloads manually the updated journal.

That wouldn't require as much work as the networking
I guess.

Thurs, I made a vid in SE using F9, & WMM. I imported all
the images. Clicked on first frame n added front titless,
then selected all images n dropped them all into 2nd frame,
& they filled all the rest of the frames as I expected.
Then I added credits.

I saved to my computer as for Broadband 512k into My Vids\SE
and it failed in the save each time. There's plenty of room, the
original images are still in their original spot and the save folder
is still present. Any idea what's wrong?

What's the exact problem? Does it throw an error or are the video files not working?

It's spitting an error saying "Check the files are still in original place,
that the folder you are saving to is present, and if there's enough
disk space on the hdd".

All 3 are fine. So I can't see why it's giving the error. How do you
save yours? I mean Broadband 512k or what? Might be that's the
issue. First time I did it with just the titles & credits it worked at
default settings. When I added all the imported images it would't
work.

Hello all, sorry about the lack of updates. I've been in the mountains enjoying nature wink I still have another month or so when I'll be away from the computer. But rest assured I will have tons of great stuff for you when I come back!

Cheers, Thurs
