I decided to organize my wanderings a bit better - so I'll be doing it in a quasi-story fashion. The first system, Athena - I made it myself. It's attached here. Without further ado....

<ATTACHMENT: HMSES Kepler InfoBlurb> HMSES Kepler Class: Kepler Class Explorer/2nd Rate Battlecarrier Builder: Newport News Spaceship Yards, Terra Orbit Ordered: 22 Nov 3043 Laid Down: 17 Feb 3044 Launched: 18 Oct 3050 Commissioned: 18 Apr 3051 Placed In Active Service: 16 Jun 3051
The Kepler is first in a new class of deep space explorers. Capable of operating in the far reaches of the galaxy for five years without support, there is no doubt the Kepler will make many scientific discoveries....
While the Kepler is on a peaceful mission, it is heavily armed against things that go bump in the night...
The Kepler left Gagarin Station on 19 Jun 3051. After a through shakedown in the Solar System, the Kelper began the trip to the Athena system on 3 Jul. The ship arrived late on the ninth, and docked with Athens Station in Elaia orbit early on the tenth. The crew of the Kepler went down to the Explorer’s Luxury Resort to join with the science crew, civilians and their families that had arrived the day before aboard the SS Queen Mary 3. Crews aboard Athens Station spent the next month provisioning the ship as well as installing the five large science modules.
The Kepler and her crew of 16,000 left Athens on 6 Aug. They spent the next 3 weeks doing a dress survey of Athena before departing for deep space on the twenty-fourth. They are planned to return in the middle of 3056. Currently, the Kepler is still in transit to its first destination, 1000 parsecs from Athena.
Royal Survey Planetary Classification System (RSPCS): Feedback on this would always be helpful
A: Asteroid. A body that is not large enough to achieve hydrostatic equilibrium. Can be appended with the type of asteroid the body resembles (AC, AS, AX, etc.) B: Barren. A rocky body that lacks an atmosphere. Examples: Mercury, Moon C: Carbon. A world made mostly of carbon or its allotropes (diamond, graphite, giant buckyballs...), with a possible metal core. D: Desert. A silicate/metal body with an atmosphere (at least 0.005 atm) with evidence of frozen water on the surface. Example: Mars E: Europan. A class I world with a thin ice crust and an ocean underneath. Example: Europa F: Iron. A planet that consists primarily of an iron-rich core with little or no mantle. G: Glacial. A silicate body with an atmosphere and with surface ices that are primarily not water. H: Hadean. A silicate planet with a molten surface. I: Icy. A planet with a ice crust and a icy/liquid mantle. May have a rocky core. Example: Triton J: Jovian. A gas giant. K: Snowball. A rocky planet encased fully in ice. May have an ocean underneath the ice. Examples: A 'snowball' Earth. L: Liquid/Oceanic. A body with a liquid surface covering a ice/liquid mantle. May or may not have a metal/silicate core. This is essentially a melted class I world. Example: Epsilon Indi B V N: Neptunian. An ice giant. P: Super-Jovian/Sub-Brown Dwarf. A gas giant with a mass approaching that of a brown dwarf. (6 Mj) R: Exotic Terran. A rocky body with liquid in quantity on the surface. S: Titanian. A icy body with a liquid ocean on the surface. Example: Titan T: Terran. A rocky body with liquid water in quantity on the surface. Example: Earth V: Venusian. A silicate body with an atmosphere (.005 atm+) without surface ice. Example: Venus U: Unknown. Z: Unclassifiable.
Temperature grades: After the classification letter, comes a number corresponding to the body's temperature. This number is (temp in K/50) rounded down. This means that a world that is temperate will have a grade of 5.
Other Important Features: b: Contains life. h: Has a human-breathable atmosphere. p: Is unusual is some matter – such as Venus's slow, retrograde revolution or Uranus' axis. r: Has rings. ?: Unsure classification. d: Dwarf planet/moon. (Precedes class. Assumed for class A bodies.)
A rating that describes a planet's current habitability. A: A near Earth twin. Humans can live on the surface without any technical assistance, save for possible vaccination against local viruses and bacteria. Example: Earth B: Humans can live, with notable difficulty, unassisted on the planet's surface. Technology such as supplemental oxygen or special heating or cooling arrangements are required to total comfort. (There is no such body in the Solar System) C: Humans cannot live on the planet's surface. Conditions are, however, less than hostile to the inhabitants, such as good temperatures or a atmospheric pressure high enough to require only a thin body suit with oxygen. Example: Pre-terraformed Mars D: Barren. The planet offers nothing for survival, yet does not present any special challenges beyond that. Examples: The Moon, Callisto, Triton F: Toxic. Conditions on the planet actively prevent habitability, such as extreme heat, radiation, or atmospheric pressure. Toxic components to the atmosphere are also part of this. Examples: Venus, Titan
<ATTACHMENT: Athena Report, 17 April 3050> Athena/ColStar 11/HIP18 56948/HD 101364/RESC 8865 System Summary: Athena is a G5 dwarf star that has been long been recognized as a 'solar twin' – that is, a star that is close to Sol in most aspects. Athena has 10 planets, in a Sol system type configuration – terrestrial bodies in the inner orbits with gas giants orbiting farther away. Other that the 4 bodies with life, the most interesting objects in the system are the Gorgons – a pair of gas giants that orbit around a common barycenter.

Pistoleer, interesting. You make some mistakes in the planets classification. For examples moons of Erichthonius are classified as asteroids, but they have a spherical shape and a big diameter. Some of the gas giants are classified as ice giant (but have a mass greater than Jupiter)...

Captain's Log, December 11th, 3051 - We arrive at Deneb tomorrow. A visit to Deneb first wasn't planned when we left 4 months ago, but the science crew requested that we should stop there first. “We could learn a lot from studying a supergiant up close,” I remember Director Cannres saying to me. Given that Deneb was only 2 weeks farther away than what we originally planned, I agreed. Granted, we can't go deep into the system, and we'll likely lose a few probes, but – we have plenty.
Morale on board remains high, and has been buoyed even higher by our imminent arrival. I think I've gotten invitations to every arrival party in the habitat. Although I have much to do to prepare for tomorrow, I think I'll pop in to a few just to show my face.
Deneb/Alpha Cygni/50 Cyg/ HD 197345/HIP 102098 System Summary: The 19th brightest star in Terra's sky, Deneb is one the brightest A-type stars in the galaxy. Life Complexity Index (LCI): A simple measure of the complexity of life on a planet, ranging from 1 - the simplest of bacteria, to 10 - sentience. Less than an LCI of 5 means that the land has not be colonized by animals. I'll work on expanding this later - this is just so I don't have to explain life on every planet... I'm not that imaginative.
From the offical Kepler's website FAQ: How do you choose what system to visit? Surely you can't visit them all! The Kepler carries about 100 FTL probes just for this reason. We send them out as we visit one system, and we choose the most interesting system that the probes found as our next destination.

I heard about the three openings on the Kepler for journalists from my colleagues at the newspaper. I quickly filled out an application, submitted it, and then quickly forgot about it. After all, I'm a reporter for a small town newspaper. Why would the ministry give me a second look? You can picture my shock when I got a call from the Ministry of Space Exploration inviting me to Amsterdam for a face to face interview. I accepted. At least it would be a chance to see the sights - the changing of the guard at Windsor-Orange Palace, Parliament, maybe a tube ride to Paris - just a nice free vacation. I can't talk about the interview, but I was asked to remain in Amsterdam for a few more days. When I was summoned back, I met with the Ministries sub-director. The first word out of his mouth was 'Congratulations', and he handed my a first-class ticket to Nice and a government stamped credit card. I had only just managed to get over my shock when I arrived at the MoSE's training center outside of Nice. Over the next month, I sat in classes for eight hours a day - learning the layout of the Kepler, the ship's regulations, space safety, how to put out fires, and quite a bit more. There weren't many people there - the reporters where the last ones to get trained, appearently. I did meet my fellow reporter shipmates - Gerrard Dubois of TCBN and Nia May of the Times of London. After a month back at home to pack and put things in order, I boarded the Queen Mary 3 bound for Elaia. If you haven't been on a cruise ship like the QM3, you should try to sometime. Standing on the pitch black deck, with nothing between you and the stars except for a force-field reinforced dome... it's something to behold. The government put me and all of the other scienceists and other civilians at this super luxury resort here on Elaia. Now, if you excuse me, I've got an message appointment under the ruddy light of Labyrs to keep.
Funny note: When I was randomly searching Wikipedia for a good name, Linoleum - the programming language made by the guy who created Noctis - came up. Odd, eh?
