Alright, next Monday on the 28th Now I will post the location code and name of a random galaxy in SpaceEngine 0.95. You will then have one week to find the coolest Terra only in that galaxy and post a screenshot, you can only post two screenshots. Preferably at least one from space so we can see your entire planet, and then one anywhere you like, the most amazing picture you can get of your planet.

To join this challenge post your two screenshots and the location of your Terra in this thread at any time between 28th-2nd. I will then edit this and add the people who joined and everyone will be allowed to vote on which one they think is the best of the galaxy.

The deadline to submit is 23:59 on Dec 1 CENTRAL TIME. (12:00 AM central USA)

Galaxy to search in: MB 1/KK 21
A type Sc Galaxy quite near our local area. You can find it by hitting F3 and searching for MB 1.

It has now begun, you have until Dec 2nd to submit your Terra into this thread. Good luck.

So down! There should be ongoing contests like this all the time to stir up excitement and to make Space Engine feel more like a game than a simulator. smile

If it turns out pretty successful I might make it a weekly thing, I mean I don't think I'll run out of galaxies cool

EDIT: Looks like I cannot edit the poll, hopefully a mod (Robbie? ) can edit or remove and recreate this thread on the 2nd of December so we can vote, or I can just make another thread for voting.

Okay, I can see what's happening, you need permissions to edit poll, and we need to allow everyone editing rights to their own polls. I, or SpaceEngineer, will PM you when you can do this.

It has now begun, post your Terra in this thread. Remember you can only submit one Terra, choose carefully, might even want to wait until the last day. Meanwhile we can discuss the entries and interesting finds in this galaxy, you can post pictures with out submitting anything, just make sure you say at the top of the post "THIS IS NOT MY ENTRY." cool

Hmmm, we have a limitation with the Poll system. Only 10 entries, and it is impossibility to edit it by the topic-starter. I suggest not to use a poll for the challenge, but create a normal thread instead. First create a post with a description, then a second one with a list of the users/screenshots and their ratings. You can't edit the first post, but can edit the second (really strange limitation). Then users can vote by posting message in thread. Topic-starter should sum-up all votes and update the second post.

I'm in. Let the hunting commence! ohyes

EDIT:
A question Talisman: what exactly is the submission deadline? Does the challenge go UNTIL Dec 2 (i.e. closes at 23:59 on Dec 1), or THROUGH Dec 2 (closes 23:59 on Dec 2)? And we go by server time, not UTC/PST/CET/whatever, right?

The deadline is 23:59 on Dec 1 CENTRAL TIME. (12:00 AM central)

I'll edit the OP to make that clearer.

Ok thanks for clearing that up.

For user reference, 23:59 CST Dec 1 is 5:59 UTC Dec 2, and 9:59 Dec 2 server time.

I found a really cool cold terra with life in a dual star system with a main sequence star and a brown dwarf. At first glance it was a relatively normal looking planet with some cool effects from the red dwarf sunlight but a peek below the surface revealed these crazy technicolor spotted purple mountains! What a crazy find! Alien life at an extreme!! RS 1137-3-4-2434-226 B5
