Found this planet thanks to Khadras' issue with Cassiopeia. Clueless about that one, I randomly flew off into Andromeda, and stumbled upon this planet. The pressure is a tad high, but far from dangerous. Other than that, everything is perfect. But the sights - first time I see SE generate a planet with such diversity of environments. I'm flying around this thing second day now and I'm positive I haven't seen everything just yet. Surface shots:
Night sky shots. Blame nvidia for those ugly seams in the clouds.
But my jaw dropped today when I saw cliffs up to 2 km tall and clearly visible from space. Seriously, if the previous surface shots didn't scream "fantasy world", this nails it down entirely.
The cliffs look like barcodes due to planar texture mapping of all terrain, not really something you can fix even in non-procedural environments (level designers usually mask them with dedicated cliff meshes)
I can't help but notice your shots look better... I guess I could tweak my settings further.
Anyway, I found this today in the Triangulum after an unsuccessful hunt in Andromeda (those blue and red dots are pretty, but useless... the above planet was quite rare it seems)
Nowhere near as interesting as the last one, but has more Earth-like conditions and appearance. Another binary system. Really liking the huge, close moon. Now, getting this shot was a real pain in the arse. I usually want to capture the closest moon and the galaxy in one shot, but turns out this planet's moon is fixed on the day side and I had to wait two Earth years until the winter to get an almost-night shot of either. Nice orange tint on the atmosphere's dark side.
Wow...interesting find. I had a look at that planet too and found one cliff island 5.5km high! This one literally is an island unto itself, but in the ocean. You have to disable water to see its true depth! Can clearly see the textures are being stretched through the z-plane. My location is here:
