Hi !

I had an idea to make this forum more living : a RPG !

The game will be a simple civilization game : every forum user who want to participate to the game will control a civilization, and I will place the players spawns on a galaxy I'll choose. The communication between me and the players will be via PM, and this thread will be for general discussions about the game and for sharing screenshots.
I will use the new power of making descriptions for objects, and each player will have his own database depending on the knowledge of his civilization. I will share edited systems too, if some players have the idea of terraforming planets (and this will happen surely).

Before the start of the game, I will discuss (by PM obviously) about the strenghts and the weaknesses of every civilization, and choose a spawn for them. Every spawn have its advantages and its drawbacks, and I will try to make no spawn cheated.
During the game, it would be possible to explore, colonize, develop technologies and manage diplomacy with other players.

I'm in exam period, we have to wait until the month of June for the game to start, but I'm taking advance so we can discuss about the rules of the game.

Any opinions ? Any questions ?

I'll create a group of stars (~100 stars) where I will make the plakers spawn.
Each day, the players will send me a PM with their projects (for example : "I send a colony ship to this planet I discovered and try to import algae here, for the oxygen level to increase. I start research apout space-time distortion.")
In exchange, I will give them two files : a wiki database file, with the information they know about the objects they discovered, and a catalog file, with all the objects they know (they will start with their solar system and all the other stars without planets, as they are undiscovered).
Players who know each other can send PM each other, if they send me copies (thay will be useful to make my databases).

In the thread, I will make rankings and statistics about civilizations, share public informations...

It is possible for players to send me their ships model they have created with the ship editor : each player will have its own ships.

I don't think I'll use dices. The results of thye fights will depend on the strategies of the players.

I think he's creating each system in the game from scratch.

I have an idea, could we keep something (maybe the first post of the thread) where we put all civilities, the respective players, and the planets that they have? smile

Plus maybe every civility should have some money to negotiate with other civilities for tecnologies or even planets

The universe is not required to be in perfect harmony with human ambition.

CPU: Intel Core i7 4770 GPU: ASUS Radeon R9 270 RAM: 8 GBs

(still don't know why everyone is doing this...)

I would join.

It would be fun if the one hundred stars were procedural ones, I believe.
And I suggest multiple factions could colonize the same planets.
Why would I not be able to place a colony on the other side of the planet where there already is one.
Homeworlds should be exclusive though.

I've been thinking of an RP like this before and had thought of a point or money system. Instead of registering planets in an empire, I would register colonies. Every colony could exist out of certain buildings. Some buildings deliver you money, others are for people to live in.
Every colony would need some necessary buildings, like a city hall. That's why new colonies cost some serious money.
You also need money and people to build and maintain any construction. Thus, you constantly have to make the choice wether you want to colonize new planets or expand the existing colonies.
Terraforming would increase productivity, but would also cost a lot.

Then, to make it more fun, it should be possible for players to ally or declare war on other empires.
Then they could build drone armies and conquer other colonies. Or use the drone armies to defend their colonies.
Some kind of calculation could be used to determine the outcome of a battle.

Money would be updated daily based on the buildings an empire has and the costs to maintain its army.

The reason I never started this is because would be an awful task to update all those things daily.

There would be problems with that, such as people being able to explore them at their will. They need to be custom and managed by Voekoevaka so that they can be "discoverable" and so different planets are visible to different players, and so that any possible terraforming projects can take place and be visible in-game.

I expected this kind of information (the number of planets you have...) to be hidden, but if most of you want it, I will make something like this.

I've already imagined something like this : I'll use the possibility to export planetary maps to draw border lines, main roads and main cities, countries.

Imagine two civilisations who doesn't know each other : the probability for them to have a common money is null, so, at the beginning, players will exchange ressources & technologies without money. After, if some players decide to found an alliance, they can create their own money.

It should definitely be hidden, no one should know what worlds others have or what other worlds are out there unexplored unless they have discovered them themselves.
