Hey.

Recently I began to notice that some of the more intresting recently discorved obejects aren't present, such as PSR J1719 -1438 b (a planet that is possibly made of diamond), WISE 1828+2650, (which is a brown drawf which is ONLY around 80 degrees F in tempature)

Will future updates include more recently discovered objects?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's the main focus of this this post: easter eggs.

With the massive scope of this program, I feel it could benefit from easter eggs.

For example, there are plenty of planets or other objects in space from fiction that we know the location of. In the Halo series, for instance, the homeworld of one of the races, the jackals, is a moon called Eayn, of the planet HD 69830 d.

As it turns out, that is a real planet, and that planet is present in the game. Wouldn't it be be neat to add a moon to it and call it eayn, say it's a warm water world (eayn has be said to have one large ocean with tropical envoerments and sparse volcanic activity), and have a note on when clicked explaining what it is and such?

Since the program already has non-real planets and such, I don't see how this would be a huge issue.

There are many ofther fictional planets and such we know the rough location of and could be added. smile

EDIT: in fact, there are more examples of Halo planets that exist in real life, some of them exact planets, not just the same star system like above.

There are easter eggs implemented already. Whole Polyphemus system near Alpha Centauri A is a fictional system from movie Avatar.

Really?

It's funny though, the Pandora there looks a lot more like Pandora from Borderlands than from Avatar.

It looks almost EXACTLY like pandora from BL.

I'm pretty sure it's an easter egg from Avatar, but I never played Borderlands nor seen Avatar so I can't decide. smile

Adding some sci-fi planets is a good idea. But here is the problem: Time. I have no time to make the planets you want. So I write a manual that describes how to add your own planet. Now I wait for your add-ons. smile

BTW, I've added a new huge ester egg for the next version smile

I skimmed through it really quickly, And it looks cool!

But is it possible to make a moon this way?

Also, do you speak/read English, or do use google transloter or something? Just wondering.

Jabberwockxeno, read more carefully and you will find out how to create a moon smile

Of course I can read and write in English, how do you think I communicate with you now? I do use Google's translator sometimes, but only to help convert huge Russian texts to English, but I still edit those texts by hand. It helps me to avoid a lot of typing.

I made the Planet Reach from "Halo" before there were any guides, I just improvised based on pre-made planets in the files.

I randomly clicked on a star and found that it was Betelgeuse. Not ever having checked it out before, I found that the system consisted of five objects; the star and five planets. I think someone was trying to get me to recite "Betelgeuse" five times in a row. Easter egg? Probably not, but amusing and ironic. lol

More irony! I just read that! And, about how it could go nova in the next 100,000 years. That's something I'd want to see. ... Er, as in image.

[EDIT] Oddly enough, though I'm a fan of H. P. Lovecraft (though August Derleth occasionally leaves a bit to be desired, but that's for another thread), I wasn't aware that Betelgeuse was home to some of the Elder Gods.

More irony

What's ironic about it?

I don't know, really. Don't know much at the moment, because I'm sick. biggrin I think I found it ironic because as soon as I finished reading the wiki entry, I refreshed the page to find that you'd posted the same one. I think that was it.

That's not ironic, that's coincidental.

I stand corrected, and ashamed of my misuse of the English language. wink I appreciate the correction. I tend to pride myself on correct word usage and grammar. Then, I blow it.
