Also on the topic of voting, Puerto Rico held a referendum concerning their status as a territory. For the first time, it seems that the majority of Puerto Ricans actually support becoming the 51st state of the United States of America. The next step is for the Puerto Rican government to submit an application for statehood to the United States congress.

In recognition of this event, here is my not-so-elegant design for a 51-star US flag biggrin

Pretty much everywhere outside the cities. Most of these aren't federal routes and they're not in very good condition, just an asphalt surface with markings on it.

Not federal routes? Then who maintains them?

Probably the oblast governments manage the roads, similar to state routes in the USA. But I'm just guessing.

“I think it very likely – in fact inevitable – that biological intelligence is only a transitory phenomenon, a fleeting phase in the evolution of the universe, If we ever encounter extraterrestrial intelligence, I believe it is overwhelmingly likely to be post-biological in nature.”

Paul Davies

Just a reminder that any interstellar civilization will no longer be biological in nature.

Not only are machines better able to endure extended exposure to the conditions of space, but they have the potential to develop intelligence far beyond the capacity of the human brain.

It's in Russia. Almost all our regional roads looks like this one, only two-lane and without fence between opposite lanes. Road laws violation when overtaking on the opposite lane is most common cause of deadly accidents on regional roads.

(i can't seem to be able to embed the video directly here.....)

The Programma 101 was the world's first real desktop computer.
Devoloped from 1962 to 1964 in the Olivetti's labs, the Programma 101 was presented in 1965 at the 1964 New York World's Fair, beating in interest both IBM's, HP's and other big computer companies' products at the fair.
At total of 44,000 units were made, of which 90% were sold in the U.S.A. for a price of $3,200 ($23,000 converted to 2011's dollar value).

It's electronics were based around a 240 byte memory, a magnetic card based program archive system and a 30-column paper roll with a width of 9cm.

Three years later it's presentation at the New York fair, Hewlett-Packard presented the HP9100, which due to a violation of royalties laws in the U.S.A. had to pay $900,000 to Olivetti.

Not bad for a box with a paper roll devoloped in 2 years of almost total lack of foundings >.>

CyberItalian, this is interesting and all, but why does it have its own thread? There are other threads that this could have been posted in.
