I hope that doesn't mean it will no longer be free software?

The Planetarium will be free. The games will not.

Now that money is starting to flow, are there tax issues for Vladimir? Considering the vast amount of hours that he's put into this, it's clearly far from a profitable project even if many of the funding goals are met, so tax should be avoidable. I'm just thinking that now when money enters the scene he must be careful to document the expenses including work hours to prevent that a significant part of what we donate ends up in the pocket of the tax collector just because the paperwork wasn't done properly. I've no clue how this works in Russia, though.

It's simply not applicable to Russia cool

It's too early to know. $15? $20? $30? Any price would just be speculation at this point.

Do you think you'd have to buy them separetely, (single player, online, and sandbox MMORPG)?

If a commercialisation for non-planetarium purposes (games, etc) is a success, it's probably good for the planetarium version as well.

I must say that Vladimir is an extremely modest person if he does SE full-time for 12 months for $15,000

This is Sparta!!! Russia smile

I wonder, is there a plan to attract investors at some point?

No. Investor = 90% of profit, 1% of work, I am = 10% of profit, 99% of work. Also with investors SE becomes an ordinary space opera shooter.

are there tax issues for Vladimir?

Paypal fee is 5%, exchange of dollars to Russian rubles is only doing with Paypal exchange rate, which is not very good for me, and Russian tax for small business is something like 6% + $1200 per year.

$15 000 - Freeware SpaceEngine 1.0 Planetarium

I think it must be around $20-$30, as many modern games. Not $60 of course smile

Does anybody know anything about the type of projector systems we are talking about at the $20,000 mark for development? Who could possibly point me toward some such systems?

You are now breathing manually..
