Since July 06 up to July 10 the uCoz data center where the English SpaceEngine site is hosted, was subject to a DDoS attack. There was trouble accessing some network segments (probably from else where, except Russia). The attack was stopped, and the site works normally again. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Thanks for the info, SpaceEngineer. I knew it wasn't just me having problems connecting, but that it could be due to a DDoS attack never crossed my mind. Damn those cyber trolls. sad

This website was down for about a week! What caused this?

For all we know it could have been started by one of the banned 'members', plausibly they would have a revenge motive. However I do not CATEGORICALLY accuse any of them w/o definite proof; but definitely some hack somewhere did cause the mess. DDoS attacks are purely malicious, and never occur by themselves. If the perpetrator is found, s/he should be made to answer for all the disruption.
That said I am so glad site is back.

That's extremely doubtful. They attacked uCoz, not the Space Engine site specifically.

It wasn't this server specifically. It was a whole data center which included dozens of servers, one of which was this one.
