Using the Venus map from laps.noaa.gov/albers/sos/sos.html , I made a new Venus texture. Of course, you usually won't see it with all the clouds in the way, and even just the thick atmosphere without the clouds makes it look very different. Still, I quite like it.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ercpdulgp5vkeba/Venus.zip for download.

Install by unpacking to [your SpaceEngine install]/SpaceEngine/data/textures/planets/Venus

Wasn't there side-scan radar altimeter data collected from Venus about 20 years ago? Is that data-set available? Does it cover the whole planet?

These textures are made from a map made of the Galileo radar data, so the textures of them are certainly available. I don't know if there's a bump map available; I do know Venus is a pretty flat planet without much height differences, though. The mountains are mostly pretty smeared out over large areas, and they're not nearly as high as Earth or Mars mountains in the first place.

Galileo
I think you mean Magellan wink And there is height data available for Venus, which covers 98% of the surface. I don't know where a high-resolution global height mosaic might be found, but one probably exists. If I find one I will add a link in this post.

EDIT: On the Addon Resources page select the link for USGS Map-a-planet. You can use that surface to obtain topographic maps for Venus, as well as many other types of maps for Venus and other worlds.

EDIT 2: The map available there would not be very useful as a bump map without serious modification. It is also pretty lo-res, as is every other topographic map of Venus I've encountered sad

Whoops, you're right of course, it was Magellan. Galileo's quick flyby of Venus would hardly be enough to make full maps like those.

you are aware that a few years back i created a 131072 x 65536 pixel DESTRIPED map from the original Magellan radar data

a 8192x4096 px low res simple cylindrical map
you can use the SE cubemap tools to convert it

https://drive.google.com/file....sharing

a preview

I think the same 128k map is already used in SE. I took it from Celestia Motherlode, merge tiles together and processed with Cubemap tool. I also made a fake elevation map: took low-res elevation data, fixed gaps in it, and modulated with high-frequency data from your map. Both maps are included in the Hi and Ultra Solar system addons.

i do have a upscaled enhanced GTDR heightmap that has been cleaned up

used a shape from shade on the reflectance data for the high frequency height data
-- but it is about 50% artistic and NOT scientific accurate

the map on the motherload is mine so , glad you like it

cirocirociro03, Hi!
This Venus texture was published in 2012, I'm quite sure it's not compatible with the latest version of Space Engine.
Changing the default pak texture as a rule of thumb should not be done, but you may instead download HD and Ultra Solar System addons and put them into the addons/ folder as described in the download page, judging by previous posts I guess they're comparable in results.
They will not transform as much as you probably think Solar System objects into procedural surfaces, though.
