Hello everyone!

I was playing around with the interface for the home screen and loading screens, and I made some changes to it to make it simpler, and more modern. Here is the result:

Home screen:

Loading screen:

Here's how you can try this out for yourself:

To try the new homescreen, extract the file in "menu.zip" into \data\locale, choosing to replacing the current one. You can make a backup of the current one before replacing it if you wish.

To try the new loading screen, simply unzip the "textures.zip" folder into the addons folder.

P.S. this looks best if you change the interface skin to be "Retro SpaceEngine", by going into the player section in the settings. smile

sclarinval, This looks really neat! TBH, I didn't install the loading screen because I liked having an image to look at while it loads

Thanks! And that's fair enough, personally I think the same few images have gotten kinda boring and I think it's just cleaner to have a blank background, but I totally understand where your coming from. Maybe in the future I'll create a version with the same style, but with a picture as the background. smile

sclarinval,
it is better to unpack the new loading screens in 'addons\textures\common', not in 'data\textures\common'.
Then the originals are not overwritten.
Since the new ones have a new date, they are used.

Don't forget to look here.

Oh cool, thanks for the tip, I actually didn't know that it worked like that! I'll update the post.
Is there a way I can also have the menu screen in the addons folder? Using the method that you suggested for the loading screen doesn't seem to work for it. sad

As far as I know, not yet. Probably in future versions.

However, a trick is possible.
Rename the menu picture to 'cus-menu.png' - for 'Custom' - and create an empty 'cus-gui.cfg' file in the 'data\locale' folder. You can then select 'cus' as the language.

Because this file is empty, SE uses the English terms.
