Hello, I searched for a while for a Mod that adds Clouds to Gas Giants. Haven't found anything with Google, but maybe someone made something like that?

Yes, but only in Orbit. I wanted toknow if there are any Mods that add Clouds to the Surface itself.

I don't think so

Why was that removed anyway?

Because it took up a lot of space, worsened the planet's overall appearance, and the effects of the cloud rotation were virtually invisible without using console commands, which almost no user would know about. So it made more sense just to remove it.

Doesn't exist and won't for a while. The closest you will get to that are surfaces of brown dwarfs.

for a 3d dynamic sim like in that sagan "cosmos" type image
you will need a Pixar render farm

but in general making a gasgiant texture is rather simple
it is only a fluid dynamics issue

something like

or

can be done by writing a single line of code
then hitting enter

I have some ideas about repeatable (cycled) texture what can be used in SE in real time. I will experiment with a pre-generated "keyframe textures", cyclically warped into each other using the flow noise technique.

those two above took 20 minutes to render using 4 cpu's
the code "gaseous-giganticus.c" DOSE need porting to CUDA

this code dose work in 3d volumetric space but outputs to the surface of a sphere in cube map format

Can it output the depth data? Can it output the full data set?

I don't think it's anything practical for SE - I just think that's really cool.
