Retsof, KSP certainly has easier orbit mapping for now, but you can still do it in SE without "trial and error". While piloting your spacecraft, select the planet you wish to orbit after pressing [P]. Make sure that the selection pointer and orbit lines are both on. Get to your desired altitude above the planet and achieve a speed greater than the 1st Cosmic Velocity in a direction parallel to the planet's surface. Zoom out (Shift-Mousewheel) and you should see your ship's orbit line. Make sure that at the location of your ship it is parallel to the planet's surface.

You should now be in orbit.

Hyperdrive is a time acceleration for the ship. When you are in the orbit around a planet at say 7 km/s, don't forget that the planet itself is in orbit around a sun at say 30 km/s. So the real speed of the ship relative to the system barycenter is a vector sum of these two speeds, and may be 23 to 37 km/s depending on the ship's motion direction. When you engage the hyperdrive and set the hyperfactor to 1000, your ship's velocity becomes say 23 * 1000 = 23000 km/s, and you will get the impression that the ship is pulled away from a planet in a strange direction, but there's nothing strange. Press P and select central system body (sun or barycenter is system is binary/multiple, you may use Solar system browser to do this). Then the velocity pointer will show you your ship's velocity relative to the barycenter, and increasing the hyperfactor will just increase this velocity.

Note that rendering of the ship's current orbit is sometimes wrong, and may show strange spirals instead of ellipse, or not pass through planet's center.

so I've been stressing to figure this out for so long I'm trying to make screenshots with spaceships i can only have one in them because when i try and have 3 or 4 etc they are travelling at their own speed moving away from the other ships making it hard to have them stationary for taking screenshots.

i tried pressing Z too that didn't help

Hi.

How do I get to a spaceship?

I go to, or teleport, and it just brings me within a certain amounts, can't see it though, and I try to move to it, and either it's moving away at like light speed or I can't get near it, like it turns to some purple circle with a cross and when I try to move towards it nothing is moving??

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Hello willhub, welcome to the forum. Please take a moment to read the forum rules. A few threads already existed on this topic.

Reading the posts in this thread and reading the readme file that came with the program should answer most of your questions. If they do not, feel free to ask.

Thanks.

I seem to actually not be seeing the ship at all, even when I'm literally only a meter away from it???

Is time unpaused and are you in a star system?

Ships only appear properly inside of star systems, not in interstellar space.

Hello, everybody. loving this engine.

The way i use it is to simulate space travel. Example, i lock lets say Mars when i.m in orbit around earth. Then i change my forward momentum to reach mars. Of course i use a reasonable amount of speed that i can reach mars in lets say 30 min in stead of 8 months. biggrin
Is there a option in the config files to lock the max speed? for use inside star system. I am planning on using hyperdrive to move from one star to another star and using forward momentum to reach the planets.

Is it possible to limit the max speed without affecting the hyperdrive speed?
and is it possible to limit the hyperdrive speed as well?
So that moving in the galaxy is ristricted to certain speed limmits.
