| I use free flight mode a lot. It would be nice when flying forward to be able to hit a key to switch my viewpoint, to be able to look behind, top, bottom, left and right of me. Could the numpad keys be used for this:
5 = look behind 8 = look top 2 = look bottom 4 = look left 6 = look right
I know we can use spacecraft flight mode with inertia to rotate our viewpoint freely while moving forward, which is good in its own way, but it does not give us a fixed viewpoint. It would be nice to have these 5 preset keys for all of the flight modes. It would add another nice feature to the already nice engine.

| Numpad keys are currently binded to rotation. Maybe your idea can be done with combinations Ctrl-5, Ctrl-8 etc, but I'm unsure that this will be comfortably.

| Yes I am aware that those keys already have a 'rotate' function. But does anyone actually use those keys for rotating? I always use my mouse to turn. I've never yet used those keyboard keys. I guess those keys must be for all those 'mouse-less' people out there.
An alternative could be to use the 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 keys. They're currently free.

| I have reserved numpad keys to control the spaceship. People that play Orbiter may find this familiar to them.

| You haven't commented on whether the 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 could be used. They're currently unassigned.
I take it SE will support remapping of all the keys sometime in the future? If it does, then 'viewpoint' keys (5-9) could be remapped to the numpad that way.

| 5-9 keys are unassigned, but IMHO they are inconvenient for rotation. Keys must form cross-like figure on the keyboard. It would be more intuitive for players.
And yes, I plan to make configurable key bindings in the future.

| Could we still have the 5 extra Viewpoints added as per your suggestion; by assigning them to Ctrl-5, Ctrl-8 etc? Even if it feels awkward to use these keys, at least for now the viewpoints would be included as another extra feature. Then later on, when you've included the configurable key bindings, the player will have the option to remap those key to a more comfortable set-up.
