| It works, thanks.
Well, some coronas are very similar to each other to default one. I think choosing 10 of them is a better way. 10 textures of 1024*1024 will eat 13 Mb of VRAM - acceptable price for diversity of star corona appearing.

| Ok, I've implemented supporting of random coronae to each star. But instead of simply assigning one corona per star, I've made a smooth cyclic switching through all textures with some period (several days of SE Universe time). Now the corona looks like it's "dynamic".

| Will the textures fade into other textures, or will they "morph"? Textures "morphing" (the best word I can think of) into other textures would be perfect for the slow clumsy corona of a star. "Fading" would look too fake.
"Morphing" would probably require some kind of weird algorithm or something- not sure how hard it would be to do or how much processing power it would take (probably not that much).

| werdnaforever, could you cite an example of the difference between morphing and fading? I'm having trouble following the meaning of each, sorry.

By fading, I mean an even transition from one texture to the other- one slowly fades out (to invisibility) while another fades in. Halfway through, each texture would be equally visible, and it would look as if they were laid on top of each other.
By morphing, I mean- and I'm not exactly sure how it would work or the best way to describe it- a first texture slowly deforming into a second texture, so halfway through you would have only one texture which is basically a cross between the first and the second. Wikipedia's article on morphing describes it well (the newer techniques, not the dissolving).

| Okay, that's what I thought you meant.
The textures will "fade" into each other, but because of the nature of the coronae (being mostly transparent and rather subtle in detail) the fading actually looks very good. I'm impressed with how it turned out. Before I saw it I was as skeptical as you are.

| Quote (werdnaforever) Will the textures fade into other textures, or will they "morph"? Fade of course - I made that system within two hours. Morphing is too complicated for now (and probably require artist control).

...where did you see it?????
Is there a group of beta testers or something? Is there a video posted somewhere? Am I overlooking something from the thread?

| Quote (werdnaforever) Is there a group of beta testers or something? Is there a video posted somewhere? Am I overlooking something from the thread? Don't worry, you're not overlooking anything! SpaceEngineer would probably post it on the forum, but it can't be captured in a screenshot obviously, and I don't know how well it would look with video compression. But I would suggest not losing sleep pining over it, it's a cool feature but compared to all the new features 0.96 will have it's a very minor one. As SpaceEngineer has said, 0.96 will be out soon. Have patience!
