| What would be really cool in SE is when you want to land or enter a planets atmosphere to land, is you could select a coordinate either Longitude/Latitude or some other system (for oddly shaped moons or asteroids) from a topographic overlay map of the planetary system your in. The map will contain a height map and various contours to denote terrain and other geological features.
I saw this in a really old space simulation game called Battlecruiser Millenuim/3000 AD. The developer Derek Smart was infamous for his buggy games and attitude but I think he was quite innovative and some of the features in his game I wish would be part of SE. SE could have generated planet maps for procedural instances, and satellite images for real data.
At the moment landing by pressing Ctrl~+G is not very accurate, it would be cool to see a map to choose a surface vector for the engine to place you at the location selected.

What do you think?
