| I haven't found a single neutron star yet in SE, they are they implemented in 0.96.1, right?
If so, does anyone know of any?

How exactly does this make it easier to find a neutron star? I'm a bit confused when I try it I just see a cluster of things.

Use a small zoom, looking only at the closest stars. Look for very small dots, those will be white dwarfs/neutron stars/black holes, you can often tell them apart from each other by the color. Also, make sure you turn off labels and lines so you can actually see the dots.

| The map helps because even really close stellar remnants are too dim to be seen, but the map shows you everything within a certain area, including really dim stars and invisible solitary black holes.
