| I'm having the same problems as far as the flat/low quality planets.

| BR0tholomew, why your log breaks suddenly? Did you have a crash?

| I do have crashes at times, but I'd like to put priority on fixing the planets first.

| I pass all of the recommended system specs, and after I tried tweaking the settings to no avail I did a fresh reinstall of the program and it's still having graphical errors. There are more people that have mentioned having this problem.

| I'd just like to jump in and point out that I have the same problem. My planets all look flat and terrible. My Giant stars also look completely ridiculous, like huge blobs of jelly.

| I have no idea why planets are flat, except lack of video memory.
About giants:
This is not a bug. Giant stars really looks like this. Surprise, right? Here the link to movies that shows numerical simulation of red giant hydrodynamics: http://www.astro.uu.se/~bf/movie/dst35gm04n26/movie.html And here you can found related publications (type "supergiant" in your browser page search): http://www.astro.uu.se/~bf/publications/publications.html

| Interesting. I assumed the blob shapes they talk about were just exaggerated, much like how topography exaggeration is used on maps to detail the difference between high and low points.
Perhaps the reason it looks so curious is because it appears so 'solid' in-game whereas in those videos it appears to be more an amorphous cloud.
On that note I feel weird calling this a 'game'.
This is the highest-detailed planet I've ever found. All of the terrain features are, ultimately, just craters upon craters. There's no procedural mountain ranges or anything of that sort happening.
Makes me sad
