I'm not sure if this is a bug or not, but i think it looks kinda strange that all the ocean planets got 100% cloud coverage.

They are not all 100%, but less coverage seems to be very rare...

I've been trying to find one myself. Seems most are 90% covered or more. Maybe in a future release we will have cloudless ocean worlds?

I have found some "terra's", as in Non ocean planets with like 5% of land coverage and they look excellent if they don't have a lot of cloud cover, beautiful blue pearls. cool

Hopefully some of them will have less cloud coverage in next version, although some should still have a lot of cloud coverage as I assume that could be a side effect of 100% water coverage.

Given that they're entirely covered in oceans, wouldn't it make sense that oceanias and other liquid-rich worlds would have lots of cloud coverage due to evaporation (especially the hot ones?)

Cloud-choked worlds seem hard to find in 0.96, and that doesn't seem quite right because of all the planets with thick atmospheres. Perhaps we could have a system for determining cloud coverage based on liquid coverage, temperature and atmospheric thickness for 0.97?

Careful. The PLATT Collective has spurs.

Joey_Penguin, determining cloud coverage is a lot more complicated than that. Venus has no liquid coverage and yet has complete cloud coverage. Titan has some liquid coverage and thick atmosphere yet has very few clouds (the orange stuff in photographs is haze, not clouds). Triton has no liquids and almost no atmosphere at all and even it has some clouds. So it's not easy, it would require actual modeling of the chemical composition of the planet's atmosphere and surface to simulate cloud coverage realistically.

In 0.95, ocean worlds were almost completely covered by clouds, and users asked me to make them less cloudy. Now you ask me to return it. The good thing is that we don't know how ocean worlds look, and I can choose the appearance that looks more aesthetic.

SpaceEngineer, there's option which probably will satisfy everyone - use both ways, depending on conditions. It is easy to assume that a thick layer of atmosphere, with higher pressure and temperature also means a thick layer of clouds similar to Venus, and the earth-like conditions make I less thicker.

Well, technically, the reason why we have a cyclones on Earth isn't abundance of water surface, but a continents - without them, clouds would be flat and featureless, again, similar to the Venus.

Having some with partial clouds and some with full clouds is the best option. I love the way they look with only partial clouds and that should definitely be kept, because there are probably ocean worlds that look like that. There are also probably some with full cloud coverage, so having that as an option would be good as well. Maybe 25-30% should have full clouds, to make it reasonable. Just an idea.

Wouldn't it make sense that oceanias that appear closer to their stars are much more cloudy than the one that are farther away?

(I'm not sure if that's the way it works right now, not spending much time on SE)

Really don't you think that the best solution is to add both types?

Agreed, we already do this with deserts and titans, it makes good sense to do it with oceanias as well.
