Single stars appearing as binaries?

Pardon me if this has been asked before but why do some single stars like Delta Pavonis appear in SE as binaries? Also I noticed the two stars of Zeta Reticuli also have binary companions. Is there something I am doing wrong?

Did you use the search function? Did you read the FAQ linked from the site home page?

I did. And this link is broken:

http://http//en.spaceengine.org/forum/4-1946-1

BTW: I turned off all procedural planets, stars, etc, if that matters.

I also read this from the Space Engine entry in Wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SpaceEngine

"One of the main features of the program is its scientific accuracy. Cataloged objects are based on real data"

That's what drew me to Space Engine so I am a little perplexed as to why it would be so inaccurate there. I assume it uses the Hipparcos catalog and others right?

I'm posting this for the benefit of anyone else who might search for a solution to this. I eventually found the answer to my question.

It is not in the FAQ but probably should be. I found it in a the Create a Star thread in this post: http://en.spaceengine.org/forum/17-338-14566-16-1352313606

The solution is to go to the config folder, find the universe.cfg file and setting StarProcBifurcation false in universe.cfg.
