| I need a crash coarse on control. No matter what I try... I cannot get the camera to look away from the selected object. I can do this with the right mouse button, but then I cant move. But its not just that.. infact it all comes down to this.. Where is the REAL free mode? How do I UNselect a target? I want to venture through space without having to click and select targets and mess with camera bs. Right click direction, WASD movement, middle mouse speed. Without being targeted or attached to anything.. where is this?

| It exists normally, you don't have to activate it. Hold left mouse button to look around, use WASDRF to move in all 6 directions. If you can't look away using left mouse, then you may have accidentally started tracking the target using T. Press T again to untrack if this is the case. There may also be a bug when you untrack, so simply change the object you're bound to (select a new object and press Shift-F, or G to go to it), or press Shift-R on the current object. That should fix the weird movement bug on untrack if it appears.
If you ever want to know what different controls do, read the readme file. Also, many options and menus can be controlled by the toolbars at the left, right, bottom left, and bottom right of the screen (mouse over these areas to open them).

| Okay it seems to work now, but I still loose control when I get close to the surface of a planet. The right mouse goes from paning my camera around to.. orbital mode. I would call it. Where it zooms the camera around as if I was in orbit. This is cool, but not what im looking for just yet. How do I disable this? I want to maintain that free camera even when im close to the ground. Shift-D is what released the camera from being fixed to the target object, but that no longer works when close to a surface.

| I don't know what you mean concerning the right mouse button. Both mouse buttons work exactly the same way all the time. Left mouse button rotates the camera around its own axis (i.e. looks around), and right mouse button rotates the camera around the object it's currently bound to (i.e. orbits the object). The problem you're describing and the way you're describing it just don't seem to make sense in the context of SE's controls.

| No, im sorry it is the left mouse button im using to pan the camera. The trouble im having now is when I get close to the surface of a planet It goes into this "orbit mode" And the left mouse button goes from panning the camera to moving it as if im in orbit.

| That doesn't sound possible, I know of no way in which that could happen. As I understand it, the way the engine is coded simply doesn't allow that sort of thing to happen. Unless I'm simply misunderstanding you.

| ng I know what he's talking about. It seems you may have right and left mouse buttons either confused or bound opposite. The left when held down should let you freely move the camera as though you we're looking around, the right makes you go around the object. When you get into the orbit it goes from just moving around to orbiting the planet. To stop you have to change it from orbit to follow I think. Harbinger there is an orbit mode on the camera when your in the atmosphere and on orbit mode. Using the right click makes you fly around as if your orbiting the planet. The camera will stay in a fixed position while flying over the surface in stead of being focused down on the planet while flying around it.

| Atheist101, I know what the left and right mouse buttons do. But what he's saying (or at least what I'm understanding) is that the left mouse button switches functions depending on the location of the camera. And what I'm saying is that this simply makes no sense, since there's nothing which could conceivably cause that.

| Oh ok i think i understand. Just got a completely different idea off of what was said then you. It seems like it does simply because modes change based on where you are. Sometimes when you land on the planet it goes from follow to orbit. Which makes the right mouse act differently. Also Harbinger i wasnt saying you didnt know what the mouse buttons do, i was saying the op must have the two confused with each other. The way he wrote it makes it seem like hes confusing the left with right and right with left.

| They don't switch functions ever. The camera binding mode changes close to the planet, but that does not affect the function of the mouse buttons. They behave the same in all situations.
